    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Cost Accountant</strong></p>\n<p><strong>Job Location: Melville, NY </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Salary: $100,000-$150,000/yr</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Assist the Controller in providing support to our several manufacturing sites in areas relating to variance analysis, work order management, inventory, process improvement and several other cost-related topics.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Adherence to the monthly, quarterly and yearly close process and timeline.</li>\n <li>Reviewing/updating entries to the general ledger.</li>\n <li>Account reconciliation and analysis related to inventory reconciliation and cost of goods sold accounts.</li>\n <li>Ensuring the accuracy and reconciliation of the project cost ledger to the balance sheet, including the accuracy of materials, labor, other direct cost, and associated indirect cost.</li>\n <li>Completing the Excess & Obsolete process on a quarterly basis.</li>\n <li>Working closely with Business Management, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), Program Management, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to provide cost accounting support and resolve issues on cost and inventory.</li>\n <li>Coordinating period-end close processes.</li>\n <li>Providing analysis and reporting for labor productivity and manufacturing variances.</li>\n <li>Developing tracking reports and analytics to help identify opportunities.</li>\n <li>Development and monitoring plant metrics</li>\n <li>Streamlining processes and realizing efficiency gains</li>\n <li>Supporting Supply Chain initiatives related to product costing</li>\n <li>Assisting in the development and implementation of training programs.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.</li>\n <li>Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience required with at least 4 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing company.</li>\n <li>Strong Excel skills are required.</li>\n <li>Effective written and verbal communication skills.</li>\n <li>Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing processes is highly desirable.</li>\n <li>Understanding of Project Accounting</li>\n <li>Experience with ERP systems, preferably Costpoint</li>\n <li>Project costing in a government contracting environment and familiarity with government contract accounting compliance requirements (e.g. FAR, CAS) is strongly desired.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Stellant Systems is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
