The goal is to support individuals experiencing homelessness address immediate barriers to self sufficiency, identify and access longer term housing support, and resolve their immediate housing crisis. The HM is responsible for the safety and welfare of shelter residents through the administration of house rules pertaining to resident conduct, fire safety, room conditions, and curfew restrictions.  The HM conducts house and room checks, answers the telephone, greets visitors, checks-in new residents, checks-out departing residents, prepares a House report, manages sign-in logs, calls residents to meals, and monitors mealtimes, responds to emergencies to ensure, if necessary, residents are evacuated safely and efficiently, responds to residents needs and requests, and is responsible for shift specific activities. The HM must clearly document and communicate issues and concerns to Operations Manager, Assistant Directors, and Director, as well as effectively communicate with other house management shifts.
