The RN assesses patient needs, develops and implements individualized care plans, evaluates outcomes, and supports patients and families in meeting their physical, emotional, spiritual, and psychosocial needs.</p>\n<p>Working within an interdisciplinary team and guided by the standards of the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives, the RN promotes comfort, dignity, and quality of life for patients receiving palliative care. Responsibilities include patient assessment, care planning, education for patients and families, collaboration with healthcare professionals, and contributing to a safe, respectful care environment aligned with the mission and values of Providence Health Care.</p>\n<p>This role is ideal for nurses who are passionate about compassionate end-of-life care and teamwork in a supportive clinical environment.</p>\n<h2>Minimum Nurse-to-Patient Ratio</h2>Minimum Nurse-to-Patient Ratios (mNPR) set the minimum number of nurses required to safely care for patients on a given unit. Developed in partnership with the Ministry of Health, the BC Nurses' Union (BCNU), and health organizations across British Columbia, mNPR provides a consistent and transparent approach to staffing that supports safe nursing practice and high-quality patient care. Many patients may go home after their time in palliative care or transfer to hospice or long-term care.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> <strong>Your Day to Day:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Reviews patient/resident status through charts, observations, interviews, and team collaboration.</li>\n <li>Assesses needs, develops care plans, and delivers care using clinical judgment and evidence-based practice.</li>\n <li>Provides nursing care in alignment with established policies, procedures, and standards.</li>\n <li>Monitors progress, evaluates outcomes, and adjusts care plans as needed.</li>\n <li>Documents assessments, care plans, patient status, and reports changes to appropriate staff.</li>\n <li>Responds to crises and provides interventions in life-threatening situations.</li>\n <li>Supports patient and family education, including teaching and health promotion.</li>\n <li>Guides and supports care staff, promoting teamwork and effective task coordination.</li>\n <li>Participates in education, training, quality improvement, and research activities.</li>\n <li>Facilitates discharge planning, advocates for patient rights, and performs additional duties as required.</li>\n</ul>\n<p></p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>Who We Are:</strong></p>\n<p>Providence Health Care is one of the largest faith-based health care organizations in Canada.
