If this is how you view your job, we invite you to consider a career with Legacy.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The Radiologic Technologist performs ionizing radiographic and fluoroscopic exams in a variety of environments, according to physician's orders, utilizing knowledge and judgment in regard to exposure factors, imaging technique and patient care. Central to the success of this role is the ability to handle stressful situations in ways that promote positive outcomes.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Legacy Emanuel Medical Center</strong> in North Portland plays a vital role as a local and regional leader in serious clinical illness or injury. With around-the-clock expertise for critical health issues, including experts in trauma, heart care, burns, significant wounds, stroke, brain surgery and more, Legacy Emanuel is central to the health of our community and critical to the care of the Northwest.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>IMAGING</strong><strong>: Provides quality images with accuracy and efficiency, using optimal skills and knowledge of all equipment.</strong></p>\n<p>Positions patient for diagnostic radiology according to department procedures, training, and machine requirements.</p>\n<p>Operates radiology equipment, determines and sets exposure factors, sets technique utilizing all relevant factors to ensure accurate and quality images with minimal and acceptable repeat rates.</p>\n<p>Uses computer image processing, as needed to select and optimize images.</p>\n<p>Sends images and related patient information to PACS for radiologist diagnosis.</p>\n<p>Assists with patient transport by moving patients using standard procedures.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>DOCUMENTATION</strong><strong>: Gathers complete documentation of all pertinent information to provide accurate and timely service to customers.</strong></p>\n<p>Identifies patient by verifying two forms of patient identification such as: date of birth and patient name.</p>\n<p>Reviews patient chart and orders to insure correct examination.</p>\n<p>Labels images completely with demographic, position and other needed documentation.</p>\n<p>Gathers charging information and charges exams as required.</p>\n<p>Follows department and hospital procedures and policies.</p>\n<p>Performs quality control and quality assurance as applicable.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>PERSONAL & PATIENT CARE AND SAFETY</strong><strong>: Provides for personal and patient care and safety using professional judgment in accordance with written standards so there is no injury to self or others.</strong></p>\n<p>Protects patients and others in the area by using proper machine settings and radiation safety standards.</p>\n<p>Practices universal and blood and body fluid precautions, and sterile practices according to procedures.</p>\n<p>Communicates and uses knowledge of related anatomy and physiology to insure appropriate and effective care to neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.</p>\n<p>Maintains awareness of patient status and takes appropriate actions to meet their needs.</p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>PROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOR</strong><strong>: Practices professional communications, appearance, conduct, punctuality, attendance and attitude that leads to physician, patient and co-worker respect and confidence.</strong></p>\n<p>Informs and educates patient and/or family of all needed information concerning the exam performed. </p>\n<p>Uses professional judgment and presents a professional image of competency to customer and staff.</p>\n<p>Maintains professional appearance, punctuality, flexibility, confidentiality and guest relations.</p>\n<p>Handles stressful situations in ways that promote positive outcomes.</p>\n<p>Takes personal initiative to maintain current in education (journals, books, inservices seminars, etc.) in all areas assigned</p>\n<p>Takes personal initiative to maintain current in education (journals, books, inservices seminars, etc.) in all areas assigned.</p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Education:</strong></p>\n<p>Enrolled in a certified Radiologic Technology school or program or registry eligible.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Skills: </strong></p>\n<p>Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions.</p>\n<h2>Licensure</h2>\n<p>Current applicable state license in Radiologic Technology required.
