    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p><strong>This Opportunity</strong></p><p>WSP is currently initiating a search for a <strong>Lead Mechanical Engineer</strong> to join our <strong>Property &amp; Buildings&nbsp;</strong>team in <strong>Los Angeles, CA</strong>.</p><p>This role is ideal for an experienced engineer with a strong background in healthcare and other complex building sectors, including commercial, higher education, and civic projects. You will play a key role in leading multi-disciplinary projects and delivering high-quality mechanical systems design from concept through construction.</p><p>Be involved in projects with our Property &amp; Buildings Team and be part of a collaborative organization that meets our clients’ objectives and solves their challenges.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Your Impact</strong></p><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li>Lead mechanical engineering design and delivery across a diverse portfolio including healthcare, commercial, higher education, and civic facilities</li><li>Oversee design of HVAC, air distribution, hydronic, plumbing, and life safety systems&nbsp;</li><li>Serve as a technical lead and client point of contact throughout the project lifecycle</li><li>Manage projects from concept development through construction and close-out, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, and budget</li><li>Support client development and proposal efforts, contributing to growth in multiple sectors</li><li>Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and sector-specific requirements, including healthcare regulations</li><li>Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver integrated, high-quality solutions</li><li>Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to junior engineers and designers</li><li>Prepare and review technical reports, calculations, and specifications</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Who You Are</strong></p><p><strong>Required Qualifications</strong></p><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li>Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering</li><li>7+ years of experience in mechanical engineering design for building systems</li><li>Experience supporting healthcare and/or complex institutional or commercial projects</li><li>Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, building systems design, and engineering principles</li><li>Experience managing projects through design and construction phases</li><li>Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and related design tools</li><li>Strong communication, leadership, and client-facing skills</li></ul><p><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></p><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li>Professional Engineer (PE) license</li><li>Experience working across multiple sectors including healthcare, commercial, higher education, or civic</li><li>Familiarity with California codes and local jurisdiction requirements</li><li>Experience supporting business development and client relationship management</li><li>LEED AP or other sustainability credentials</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p><u>WSP Benefits:&nbsp;</u>&nbsp;</p><p>WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits focused on a providing health and financial stability throughout the employee’s career.
