These responsibilities ensure that the goals and objectives of the Structural Detail Design Department are accomplished within the prescribed plans, schedules, and budgets.<br>Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 216 980 1st St West, North Vancouver.</p><p><br><strong>What you’ll do</strong></p><ul><li>Creates and updates, the 3D design model content in assigned areas of Structural design within project schedule and budget, and in line with the design input: basic and functional design documents, class society rules and regulations, flag rules and company and international standards.&nbsp;</li><li>Prepare Structural Manufacturing Information for all Stages of Construction.&nbsp;</li><li>Liaise with functional engineering to resolve all outstanding design issues.&nbsp;</li><li>Provide technical support and resolution for structural issues from design to fabrication.&nbsp;</li><li>Communicate and report the plan and budget for delivering the work on time to team leaders.</li><li>Support production outputs to ensure the resulting work packages for manufacturing are aligned with VSY standards and processes.</li><li>Develops and/or reviews design drawings for fisheries, icebreaking, and naval replenishment vessels in order to achieve customer, Classification Society and regulatory approval.</li><li>Supports the Manager, Structural Detail Design by providing guidance to other junior engineers, designers, or subcontractors in the areas of structural engineering and design.</li></ul><p><br><strong>What you’ll bring</strong></p><ul><li>Associate Design degree, diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.</li><li>4 - 6 years of relevant experience in Detailed Design in Manufacturing or Heavy Industries.</li><li>Knowledge of marine structural design, including detailed knowledge of shipbuilding and production best practices.&nbsp;</li><li>Knowledge of the following ship types is considered a strong asset: research vessels, fishing vessels, icebreakers, naval auxiliary vessels.&nbsp;</li><li>Demonstrated effective communication across a variety of disciplines.&nbsp;</li><li>Strong technical writing skills include the ability to produce and present clear detailed written technical specifications, procedures, and reports.&nbsp;</li><li>Ability to work in Cadmatic Hull.</li><li>Demonstrated knowledge with Rhino, Navisworks and e-Share.&nbsp;</li><li>&nbsp;Above average organizational skills include the ability to maintain organization in a changing environment, multi-task and establish priorities.&nbsp;</li><li>Strong interpersonal skills.&nbsp;</li><li>Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.&nbsp;</li><li>Exercise sound judgments and make decisions consistent with the essential job functions and corporate philosophy.&nbsp;</li><li>Advanced PC and Network proficiency required – ability to troubleshoot network licenses, version control across all MSOffice.</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 216 980 1st St West, North Vancouver.</strong></p><p><span><strong>Why you’ll love working here</strong></span></p><ul><li>This is a full-time, permanent position.
