    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT:</span></p>\n<p>The Institute of Business Studies (IBS), from its’ humble beginning in 1987 as an arm of Nades &amp; Associates primarily providing revision classes for the needs of Papua New Guinea Institute of Accountants (now CPA PNG), has evolved into a private University level Institution over the last 38 years. Today we are one of the largest business schools in the country and off degree programmes in the fields of Accounting &amp; Finance, Business &amp; Management, Economics &amp; Development Studies and Information Technology. As the gatekeeper of our student’s success, you will promote student management best practices that can be easily digested and embraced across the organisation.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The Senior Lecturer is responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining a modern Academic function that is digital on the inside—harnessing digital + cloud technologies to effectively capture and manage all aspects of delivering the best student experience for the Institution. Overseeing and managing the entire lecturing process, you will ensure all students are engaged both academically and socially to maintain a healthy balance and effectively utilising our finite academic infrastructure resources.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The Senior Lecturer reports to the respective Head of School. This position incorporates a high degree of unsupervised work; as an outcome-focused person, you will display strong conflict resolution skills and enjoy managing your workload and being part of a productive team.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:</span></p>\n<p>In a highly student-focused role, the Senior Lecturer should focus on strong collaboration, communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills. It is also essential that you understand Global Management Best Practices, and local industry trends. Senior Lecturer duties will involve managing and monitoring undergraduate programmes. This includes associated operational administration, curriculum development, course materials review and quality management and enhancement. Senior Lecturer duties include but are not limited to the following:</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Learning &amp; Teaching</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure quality of tutor classes and complete the assigned syllabus within the scheduled time</li>\n<li>Use all the available teaching aids for better understanding and delivery of the units</li>\n<li>Ensure the benchmark for lectures is achieved in the KPM’s at the end of the semester</li>\n<li>Tutor specific academic subjects to individuals or small groups</li>\n<li>Monitor student’s attendance and progress</li>\n<li>Use pre-determined Institution resources to deliver the tutoring as outlined</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Lesson Preparation, Assessment &amp; Examination Duties</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Design, develop and prepare and conduct face to face, online and co-operative programs as allocated that inspire strong discussions and keep students interested and engaged</li>\n<li>Ensure that unit/course design and delivery comply with quality standards and regulations of the University and College</li>\n<li>Assist in the conduct of examinations (e.g., paper setting, marking, supervision and invigilation)</li>\n<li>Prepare and Submit DRMS in a timely manner</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Student Learning Experience</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide a high-quality learning experience to students, assisting them to achieve prescribed learning outcomes</li>\n<li>Supervise student projects and academic elements of field trips as and when required</li>\n<li>Supporting students’ extra-curricular activities</li>\n<li>Coordinate meetings and schedules with tutees as appropriate</li>\n<li>Student Pastoral Care</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Research, Scholarship &amp; Innovation:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Engage in research, scholarly activity and/or innovation, subject to the approval of the Head of School</li>\n<li>Engage with other researchers internally, nationally &amp; internationally to contribute to the research objectives of the respected School and Institutions research centres</li>\n<li>To engaged in subject and professional research development as required and relevant to support teaching activities</li>\n<li>Be active and recognised contributor to subject association and relevant professional bodies</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Curriculum Development:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop &amp; produce appropriate learning materials</li>\n<li>Responsible for designing and delivery of modules and assessment methods</li>\n<li>Develop course/unit materials of relevance to the highest quality for undergraduate programmes</li>\n<li>Designing and delivery of Curriculum</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">General Duties:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Attend and present at relevant conferences and share knowledge and insights gained with the other schools when required</li>\n<li>Liaise closely with teaching, technical and administration</li>\n<li>Taking administrative responsibilities as requested by your Head of School, Division, and Registrar</li>\n<li>Participate in professional development activities to improve tutorial skill and continue to grow cultural competence.</li>\n<li>Provide support as a team member in other operational activities as and when requires</li>\n<li>Participate in Institutions staff development initiatives relating to learning &amp; teaching</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">KEY SELECTION CRITERIA:</span></p>\n<p>The following criteria is considered to be ESSENTIAL:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Master’s Degree or Higher in any of the following fields: Economics or any Business related course</li>\n<li>At least 3 years experience in teaching</li>\n<li>Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with students and all levels of employees and management</li>\n<li>Excellent business judgement, analytical and decision-making skills</li>\n<li>Ability to review programme design on a regular basis to ensure compliance with quality standards and academic regulations and to make alterations where appropriate.</li>\n<li>Ability to demonstrate equivalent core knowledge in units taken</li>\n<li>Ability to use a range of delivery techniques to enthuse and engage students</li>\n<li>Capacity to develop and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, management, other organizations and external stakeholders</li>\n<li>Ability to communicate and impart complex conceptual ideas in a variety of way – presentations, reports, journal articles etc.</li>\n<li>Ability to plan workloads and projects and manage resources effectively</li>\n<li>Sound Computer skills</li>\n<li>Good work ethics, of sober habits and with the right attitude</li>\n<li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills</li>\n<li>Great customer focus and team player</li>\n<li>Excellent active listening and presentation skills</li>\n<li>Managing succession planning of staff</li>\n<li>Ability to develop ideas and new student-centered approaches responding to individual learning styles</li>\n<li>Effective time management skills and attention to detail</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The following criteria is considered to be <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">DESIREABLE</span>:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience working in a tertiary environment</li>\n<li>Experience in educating and coaching staff</li>\n<li>Demonstrated teaching skills</li>\n<li>Demonstrated research skills</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>",
