    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p><strong>GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION: </strong>  </p>\n<p>Under the direct supervision of a Principal Investigator or designee, the Research Lab Tech II performs and interprets routine and highly complex experiments.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><em><strong>Planning and execution of animal studies in accordance with IACUC protocols. SC, IP, retro-orbital injections, ICV stereotaxic injections, perfusion techniques, humane euthanasia, tissue harvesting, training of procedures to new personnel. Maintenance of all animal records.</strong></em></p>\n<p><em><strong>Responsible for maintaining mouse colonies - able to restrain, tag/notch mice, breeding, weaning, genotyping by PCR, qPCR. </strong></em></p>\n<p><em><strong> </strong></em></p>\n<p><em><strong>The Watts Lab is making a new generation of oligonucleotide tools and therapeutics by working at the interface of chemistry and biology, including gene silencing, gene activation, and genome editing</strong></em></p> \n<p> </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:  </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Performs a variety of laboratory experiments using both routine and special techniques and methods</li>\n <li>May assist in the training of others</li>\n <li>Provides input to improve current procedures, protocols, and/or methods</li>\n <li>Writes standard operating procedures, schedules work, orders supplies, and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies, reagents, etc.</li>\n <li>Prepares laboratory reagents, buffers, and media</li>\n <li>Records results, organizes data and performs computations</li>\n <li>Performs duties independently; requiring action and judgment to solve commonly encountered problems</li>\n <li>Complies with all safety and infection control standards appropriate to this position</li>\n <li>Perform other duties as required.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor’s degree in a Biological Science or equivalent experience</li>\n <li>1 year of related experience</li>\n <li>Knowledge of Microsoft Office products</li>\n <li>Ability to perform duties independently</li>\n <li>Judgment and action skills required to solve commonly encountered problems</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>SUPERVISION RECEIVED</strong>:</p>\n<p>Under the direct supervision of a Principal Investigator or designee</p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>SUPERVISION EXERCISED:  </strong></p>\n<p>None</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS:</strong></p>\n<p>Wet chemistry laboratory, and may require appropriate contact with biohazards, radionucleotides, toxins, animals, and human specimens. </p>\n<h2>Additional Information</h2>\n<p>#LI-KR1</p>",
