Humber River Health. Lighting New Ways In Healthcare.
Since opening our doors in 2015 as North America’s first fully digital hospital, we remain unwavering in our belief that we can change the hospital where we work, the community where we live, and the world of healthcare beyond our borders. Serving a community of 850,000 residents in North West Toronto, Equity Inclusivity and active participation in the North West Toronto Ontario Health Team are key initiatives important to our Team. At Humber River Health, we use a custom combination of technology and clinical expertise to rebuild elements of care. We make technology work for staff and physicians; giving them more time to spend with patients, to eliminate inefficiencies, and to reduce the chance of errors. Humber River Health is formally affiliated with both the University of Toronto and Queen’s University and committed to becoming a community academic hospital. Clinical Excellence, Optimizing Care through Technology and Community Connection frame our Research Strategy.
Humber River Health's Surgical Program is a leader in regional-based surgical care and practice. The Surgical Program comprised of a highly skilled, engaged team of surgeons, anaesthesiologists, nurses, advanced practice nurses, and allied health team members committed to the consistent application of evidence-based practice and patient centered care. With twenty operating room theatres, five cystoscopy suites and interventional radiology suite, HRH provides a wide range of preoperative, intra-operative, and post-operative services. Through their affiliation with the University of Toronto, HRH shares their expertise in minimally invasive surgery with general surgery students around the globe. Other highlights of the program include a Nurse Practitioner led Acute Pain Service, the first Bariatric Program to be accredited by the American College of Surgeons outside of the United States and being a leader in anterior approach hip surgeries.
Position Objective:
We are seeking an interim Program Director to lead our Surgical team. Reporting to the Vice President Clinical, the Program Director, Surgical Services provides strategic leadership oversight for the delivery of the Surgical Services portfolio (Surgical In-patient Units, Out-patient Clinics, Acute Pain Service, Bariatrics & NSQIP) delivering quality patient care services that meets legal, regulatory, and professional requirements aligned with corporate goals and objectives. The Program Director sets the program’s strategic direction in collaboration with Chief/ Physician Director to support and promote the use of best practices within Humber River Health.
Career Experience and Core Competencies:
Substantive education in a related clinical discipline, clinical experience in acute services coupled with at least five years management experience working with a medical dyad partner and experience in business planning, resource management, program planning, development, evaluation and managing patient care services is required for this role.
