Reporting to the Superintendent, Infrastructure of the Technical Services group, you will be involved in the engineering studies. Your primary responsibilities will include the preliminary design of infrastructure as well as the coordination of activities related to surface infrastructure. The main types of infrastructure for which you will conduct studies include dikes, dams, tailings storage facilities, ponds, stockpiles, access roads, water management infrastructure, pumping systems, and other mining-related infrastructure. You will also participate in cost estimation, support operational projects, and contribute to various innovation initiatives. This role requires ongoing collaboration with other Technical Services departments.
Specifically, you will:
Take ownership of the study phase for infrastructure projects (planning, organization, implementation, and follow-up), while meeting specific objectives;
Contribute to the preparation of technical studies (preliminary, prefeasibility, and feasibility);
Perform sizing and preliminary design of technical components related to mining infrastructure;
Compare different solutions through technical studies outlining advantages, disadvantages, costs, and schedules;
Identify requirements for equipment, materials, contractors, consumables, and labor necessary for project execution;
Design and supervise the development of plans required for bidding or construction;
Prepare requests for proposals and manage the procurement process.
Participate in fieldwork and monitor project progress;
Prepare progress reports for projects under your responsibility;
Review and approve drawings and specifications you are involved in, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations;
Perform any other tasks related to engineering and the mining sector.
