    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>The Department of Data Analytics and Information Systems in the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University invites applications for a non-tenure-track nine-month Lecturer, with an anticipated starting date of August 1, 2026. This position is located on the Logan Main Campus.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p>The successful applicant will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in modern data engineering, covering scalable data pipelines, cloud-native platforms, distributed systems, and modern data architectures, including lakes, lakehouses, and warehouses. Courses will emphasize data modeling, performance optimization, and building production-ready systems that support decision-making. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The candidate will design and continually refine the curriculum to reflect evolving industry techniques, tools, and platforms. They will also develop innovative, applied learning experiences that integrate real-world datasets, cloud environments, and enterprise-scale architectures. The role also includes a strong emphasis on mentoring students in the Analytics Solutions Center (https://huntsman.usu.edu/asc/), a center within the Huntsman School of Business that offers rigorous experiential learning opportunities connecting interdisciplinary student teams with real-world problems from partner companies and organizations. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Successful candidates will bring industry experience, a passion for teaching, and a proven track record of excellence in mentoring. They will also demonstrate a commitment to continual learning and staying current with emerging data engineering technologies.</p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Minimum qualifications:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Master’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a closely related field.</li>\n <li>Applied professional experience in data engineering, including designing and building scalable data pipelines, developing cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), and/or architecting modern data warehouse or distributed systems environments.</li>\n <li>Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and SQL used in data engineering environments.</li>\n <li>Experience with modern data stack tools (e.g., dbt, Airflow, Snowflake, Databricks, Spark, Terraform).</li>\n <li>Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and student mentoring.</li>\n <li>Commitment to hands-on, experiential learning aligned with the Huntsman School mission.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred qualifications:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Industry experience designing scalable, production-level data systems.</li>\n <li>Experience teaching in a college or university setting.</li>\n <li>Cloud certifications or other professional credentials.</li>\n <li>Experience mentoring students in applied, project-based environments.</li>\n <li>Evidence of curriculum innovation or development of new academic programs or certificates.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Required Documents</h2>\n<p>Along with the online application, please attach:</p>\n<p>1) Resume to be uploaded at the beginning of your application in the Candidate Profile under “Resume/CV”</p>\n<p>2) Cover letter to be typed/pasted at the end of your application</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>**Document size may not exceed 10 MB.**</p>\n<h2>Advertised Salary</h2>Commensurate with experience with excellent benefits\n<h2>ADA</h2>\n<p>Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes.
