Description

Summary of Position The Center for Inflammation & Lung Research (CILR) at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine (LKSOM) at Temple University located in Philadelphia, PA, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Creative and accomplished faculty candidates interested in basic and translational research into lung injury and regeneration, focusing on the areas of physiology, stem cell biology, or immunology, will be considered. The position will be supported by a competitive start-up package, and academic rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The CILR is composed of basic, pre-clinical, translational, and clinical researchers who are interested in the pathogenesis of lung diseases. CILR investigators study acute and chronic inflammatory diseases using a combination of in vitro and animal model systems. A unique advantage of CILR is close access and ease of collaboration with clinicians and clinical researchers in the Department of Thoracic Medicine and Surgery, a national leader in lung transplant surgery. Additional collaborative opportunities and resources are available through interactions with the Temple-affiliated Fox Chase Cancer Center. The investigators in CILR are highly collaborative and strive to conduct their research studies using multidisciplinary approaches to study the physiology, pharmacology, pathology, and immunology of lung and inflammatory diseases. Candidate Qualifications PhD, or equivalent degree Productive record of research Possess academic credentials that would support academic appointment as an Assistant or Associate Professor. Candidates at the Assistant Professor level should have a substantial trajectory toward developing a rigorous, stable, externally funded research program. Candidates at the Associate Professor level should have a national scientific reputation, current research funding, and a history of mentorship and leadership. Applicants should be eager to participate in a highly collaborative environment, which includes significant interactions with clinical research investigators.
