The Kiawah Island Community Association has job classifications that present a rare blend of safety challenges including encounters with wildlife, public safety and security, mechanic shop, landscaping across multiple topographies, mechanical lifts, exposure to industrial road paving equipment, carpentry, chemical exposure and refueling operations, among others.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><strong>Responsibilities and Duties</strong></p><p><br></p><p>Safety Program Management –&nbsp;</p><ul><li>With oversight by the Director of Safety and Security, develop, implement, and monitor workplace safety policies and procedures.</li><li>Safeguard employee health by conducting regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate hazards.</li><li>Create and deliver training programs on workplace safety, emergency procedures, and hazardous materials handling.</li><li>Ensures accurate records and compliance with staff training.</li></ul><p>Regulatory Compliance –&nbsp;</p><ul><li>Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA and other relevant federal, state, and local regulations.</li><li>Maintain accurate records of incidents, safety inspections, and compliance reports.</li><li>Serve as the secondary point of contact for regulatory inspections and audits.</li></ul><p>Hazardous Materials Handling –&nbsp;</p><ul><li>Develop and oversee protocols for the proper storage, transportation, and disposal of hazardous materials.</li><li>Ensure employees handling hazardous materials are properly trained and equipped.</li><li>Monitor Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and ensure accurate documentation is accessible.</li></ul><p>Incident Management –&nbsp;</p><ul><li>Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.</li><li>Prepare and submit incident reports to management and regulatory agencies as required.</li><li>Collaborate with leadership to develop strategies to prevent recurrence of safety incidents.</li><li>In coordination with the Director of Human Resources, work closely with the workers’ compensation insurance carrier to manage claim reporting and processing.</li></ul><p>Collaboration and Leadership –&nbsp;</p><ul><li>Act as a safety advocate across the organization to foster a culture of safety and accountability.</li><li>Partner with department managers to integrate safety practices into daily operations.</li><li>Encourage employees to engage in proactive safety initiatives.
