GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION: The Senior HR Generalist serves as the operational backbone of the Human Resources department, owning the day-to-day employee relations work that keeps a multi-site, licensed behavioral health organization running smoothly and in compliance. Reporting directly to the HR Director, this hands-on role independently manages workplace investigations, leaves of absence, accommodations, and performance-related matters across California and Colorado worksites. The ideal candidate brings seasoned HR judgment, discretion with highly confidential matters, and the ability to act as a trusted resource to managers and staff alike. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Employee Relations and Performance Management Conduct prompt, thorough, and well-documented investigations into employee complaints, allegations, and policy violations from intake through resolution, escalating high-risk matters to the HR Director as appropriate. Support supervisors with corrective action, performance improvement plans, and documentation standards that are consistent and defensible. Serve as a first point of contact for employee and manager concerns, providing coaching, conflict resolution, and guidance grounded in policy and employment law. 2. Leave of Absence Management Manage all leaves of absence end-to-end, including FMLA, CFRA, PDL, ADA accommodations, Colorado FAMLI, and workers' compensation coordination, ensuring timely notices and accurate documentation. 3. Policy and Documentation Interpret and apply company policies consistently; maintain meticulous, confidential records of all employee relations matters. Help maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws across both states; partner with the Compliance Coordinator and Compliance Officer on personnel-file and survey-readiness matters. Support offboarding processes, including separation documentation and exit interviews, feeding insights into retention efforts. Partner with the HR Director on special projects, process improvements, and HR initiatives as needed. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS: Performs other duties as may be assigned.
