    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>Element has an opportunity for a <strong>Laboratory Assistant</strong> to join our rapidly expanding team in Edmonton for a seasonal assignment until December 31st 2026). As a member of the operations team in one of the various laboratories across Element, the <strong>Laboratory Assistant </strong>position performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under direct supervision.  The technician positions must be proficient in a number of core business skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p></p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Receive samples and document receipt</li>\n <li>Inspect samples and sample information sheet, documenting sample integrity. Notify Team Leaders of any potential problems with samples, analysis or client requests.</li>\n <li>Communicate with client regarding sample integrity and analysis requests and document all communications</li>\n <li>Enter sample and client information into LIMS, assigning analysis requirements and generating sample labels, Notice of Sample Receipt and Lot Communication Sheets</li>\n <li>Distribute samples to the correct sample storage location</li>\n <li>Determine internal/external sublet location and prepare sample for shipping</li>\n <li>Complete daily checks of sample storage equipment</li>\n <li>Receive payment from clients</li>\n <li>Request supplies and consumables in advance of requirement by recording needed items in order book</li>\n <li>Follow the Quality System as documented in the Quality Manual</li>\n <li>General duties as directed by the team leader or operations manager</li>\n <li>Strict adherence to the corporate Quality System</li>\n <li>Read, understand and follow all relevant Standard Operating Procedures</li>\n <li>Maintain a clean and safe work environment and notify coworkers of potential sample hazards; comply with all rules and responsibilities as outlined under the corporate Health and Safety Policy</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Skills / Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Post-secondary education in chemistry or other science related field or high school diploma with related experience• On The Job Training Required:o Quality System Trainingo WHMIS/Safety Trainingo LIMS Operation Trainingo LMS - Sample Reception Procedures</li>\n <li>Understanding and ability to implement sample receiving procedures; understanding and utilizing field terminology</li>\n <li>Effective communication skills</li>\n <li>Knowledge of service codes and chemical preservative</li>\n <li>Proficient in LIMS applications</li>\n <li>Organization skills</li>\n <li>Knowledge of correct sample storage conditions</li>\n <li>Knowledge of what analysis location cannot perform and where to sublet sample</li>\n <li>Knowledge of storage equipment temperature range</li>\n <li>Knowledge of laboratory safety practices</li>\n <li>Knowledge of service fees and provide receipt</li>\n <li>Knowledge of supply levels and ordering process</li>\n <li>Technical knowledge of test methods</li>\n <li>Knowledge of the Quality System with the ability to interpret and implement Quality Manual</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Physical Demands:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Frequency of required physical force: Minimum (moderate).</li>\n <li>Lifting requirements: lifting <50 lbs. often and > 50 lbs. on occasion</li>\n <li>Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time</li>\n <li>Ability to lift 50+lbs periodically</li>\n</ul>\n<p>#LI-TK1</p>\n<h2>Diversity Statement</h2>\n<p>At Element, we always take pride in putting our people first.
