Job Summary About Us: EMCOR Services Aircond, is the largest commercial and industrial heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning (HVAC) service company in the Southeast. Guided by three generations of family leadership, today Aircond delivers a full spectrum of facility services to single and multi-site clients, from HVAC service to complete operations and maintenance solutions. Job Summary: Service and repair condensing, non-condensing, water tube, fire tube and pulse type boilers. Utilize knowledge of heating systems and associated burner/control systems to maintain our current boiler customer base. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Test and commission new and existing boiler installations. Troubleshoot, service, repair, retrofit, and make recommendations as needed to return customer boilers, burners, and controls to fully function condition. Diagnose and repair condensing, non-condensing, water tube, fire tube and pulse type boilers. Completion of internal and external inspections of boilers, burners, and associated controls that determine function ability and expected service life. Repair and/or replace refractory, gaskets, parts, and miscellaneous controls. Evaluate basic boiler room systems (steam and hydronic), gather information, and help solve problems. Utilize combustion analysis equipment and properly adjust fire control systems to achieve design conditions- Replaces defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring to repair installed units, using electrician's hand tools and test equipment. Retrofit boiler control systems. Perform routine and annual inspections including cleaning of water and fire sides of boiler. Schedule preventive maintenance and respond to service calls for assigned customer contract base. Work with limited supervision much of the time. Participate with 'On Call' service rotation. Assist other technicians as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Education and/or Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Ideal candidate should have 2 to 5 years’ experience in troubleshooting and servicing boilers from light commercial to industrial water-tube on a variety of boiler types and manufacturers. Experience on boiler fire control systems and understand all aspects of boiler safety and operation. Must possess good communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills to ensure effective teamwork and customer relations. Must possess valid driver’s license and meet MVR requirements to operate company vehicle. Must be available for some overtime, on-call, and weekend work. Language Skills Must possess strong internal and external communication skills. Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Mathematical Skills Must possess basic math skills. Ability to perform these basic operations using units of American money and weight measurement, and volume. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and sometimes complex written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Valid Driver’s License required. Physical Demands Must be able to climb ladders, lift and carry 50 or more pounds, distinguish colors for electrical work and tolerate confined spaces. Work will involve heights and/or seasonal temperature extremes such as excessive cold or heat. Must be able to work in confined, cramped or tight spaces. Work may often require exposure to dust, dirt, common allergens, refrigerants or other potentially hazards conditions. Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Proper use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) is required while performing tasks.
