    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<div style=\"box-sizing:border-box;font-style:normal;padding-bottom:8px;padding-top:32px;text-decoration-color:initial;text-decoration-style:initial;text-decoration-thickness:initial;\">\n <strong>Examples of Duties:</strong>\n</div>\n<div style=\"box-sizing:border-box;font-style:normal;font-weight:400;text-decoration-color:initial;text-decoration-style:initial;text-decoration-thickness:initial;\">\n <ul>\n  <li>Works in tandem with all nursing team leaders by units and shifts, as a valued member of the care team, ensuring excellent, comprehensive care is provided to all residents.</li>\n  <li>Assumes leadership of assigned nursing unit, ensuring adequate staff coverage.</li>\n  <li>Serves as house supervisor/charge nurse as assigned per shift, directing nursing duties for the facility and contacting the Director of Nursing for any coordination of care.</li>\n  <li>Cooperates as a team member, communicating with nursing staff, other disciplines involved in resident care, and families/guardians about resident needs, as well as participating in care conferences.</li>\n  <li>Participates in individualized care planning, demonstrating the practical skills and techniques necessary to develop, implement, and continually update resident care plans.</li>\n  <li>Coordinates, manages, and evaluates the nursing care provided to residents, conducting direct resident care as indicated and directing nursing staff.</li>\n  <li>Oversees attending physician/nurse practitioner visits and documents and follows physician orders. Assists physicians with examining and treating residents and also assists lab personnel when needed.</li>\n  <li>Maintains precise and accurate charting of resident care, providing complete reports to other shifts.</li>\n  <li>Completes nursing data collection for residents and contacts physicians as needed.</li>\n  <li>Gives and records medications and treatments as prescribed and evaluates their effectiveness.</li>\n  <li>Protects the individuality and rights of each resident. Initiates the investigation of accidents and other incidents.</li>\n  <li>Assesses residents for changes in condition and determines immediate and follow-up care.</li>\n  <li>Assesses residents for rehabilitation potential and encourages residents to achieve goals.</li>\n  <li>Reviews and revises nightly care sheets and responsibility lists.</li>\n  <li>Maintains and orders unit supplies and completes supply inventory checks, ensuring supplies are available for residents.</li>\n  <li>Oversees the use and care of all equipment, regularly checking equipment for safety purposes.</li>\n  <li>Administers immunizations as necessary, performing related duties as assigned, and ensures infection control practices are being followed.</li>\n  <li>Supervises nursing performances and procedures, completes CNA staff performance appraisals, and investigates personnel problems.</li>\n  <li>Provides teaching and guidance to staff, assists with training nursing personnel as necessary, and presents in-service/educational information to staff as needed.</li>\n  <li>Participates in educational offerings to ensure professional growth and development, keeps abreast of current nursing literature and best practices, and stays informed of state and federal regulatory requirements.</li>\n  <li>Follows Wisconsin Administrative Code Chapter DHS 132; federal regulations; and facility policies and procedures, rules and regulations, and in-service training requirements.</li>\n  <li>Participates on nursing committees and on the nurse management team. Completes quality assurance studies and provides related information.</li>\n  <li>Ensures safety for residents and staff and makes safety-related recommendations.</li>\n  <li>Manages direct care staff, which includes unit oversight, directing the care actions of LPNs and CNAs, ensuring quality of care, and coordinating care involving other facility departments and outside agencies.</li>\n </ul>\n</div>",
