The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for the concept, the design, the manufacture and finally the installation of the equipment and works closely together with customers and vendors.</p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Who we are</strong></p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\">At SMS group, our people are our greatest asset. We offer company events, activities, and opportunities to participate in charitable initiatives that benefit the communities where we are located.</p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><a href=\"http://www.sms-group.us/\" target=\"_blank\">www.sms-group.us</a></p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>What you&#39;ll do</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Concept to design to manufacture to installation.<ul type=\"circle\"><li>Developing of manufacturing drawings in accordance with applicable standards.</li><li>Construct and oversee technicians in construction of developed systems.</li><li>Interfacing with outside vendors for component selection, manufacturing and assembly.</li></ul></li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Duties include: basic engineering, component details for manufacture, assembly and/or arrangement drawings, proposal engineering, creation of concepts, designs, layouts and pricing as well as checking of basic and detail engineering for capacities and dimensional accuracy.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics and computer &ndash; generated reports.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Confer with system engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions and provide technical information.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost and maintenance requirement of designs or applications.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Time will be spent in our facilities and our customer sites for installations, startups, rebuild and troubleshooting.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Analysis of mechanical systems:<ul type=\"circle\"><li>Force Systems and reactions</li><li>Stress analysis</li><li>System inertia</li><li>Power requirements (mechanical)</li><li>Bearing loading and life calculations</li><li>Time study (machine cycle time)</li></ul></li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Working closely together with customers and vendors.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Travel is required.</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>What you&#39;ll need</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Strong mechanical aptitude and thorough interest in the workings of machines.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work both independently and within a group.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">You are a &ldquo;hands-on&rdquo; person with an imaginative and resourceful approach to problem solving.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering is required and minimum of 2 year&rsquo;s experience is desirable.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Thorough understanding of MS Office software is required.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Proficiency in Pro/E or similar 3D CAD environment is required.
