Description

Company Overview Imagine a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly carries you and your fellow passengers over the congested city streets below, enabling you to spend more time with the people and places that matter most. At Joby, we've been working to make that dream a reality since 2009 and we're now in the final stages of certifying our aircraft with the FAA. With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service. Overview Job Overview At Joby Aviation, we’re redefining the future of flight. As we bring all-electric eVTOL aircraft to life, we’re looking for an experienced and driven Aircraft Final Integration Manufacturing Lead to help guide the final stages of aircraft assembly at our Marina, CA campus. In this role, you’ll lead a high-performing, cross-functional team responsible for the final integration of our aircraft—where engineering precision meets production excellence. We’re seeking a thoughtful, hands-on leader who can inspire teams, drive technical execution, and deliver results in a fast-paced, innovative environment. You’ll play a critical role in shaping how our aircraft come together, ensuring that every system meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and manufacturability. Responsibilities Responsibilities Lead and mentor a cross-functional manufacturing engineering team focused on aircraft final integration Drive the development of robust manufacturing processes and equipment for powertrain and electronic systems, enabling high-quality, on-time delivery Set clear goals and align team execution with production commitments Build and develop a strong, engaged team through effective staffing and professional development plans Establish and refine processes that enhance collaboration, efficiency, and performance across teams Define and communicate clear expectations for project deliverables and timelines Own and manage the department’s operational budget, partnering with leadership to ensure cost efficiency Support the review and standardization of manufacturing work instructions to ensure compliance with design and developing company standards Required Required Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field—or equivalent hands-on experience (7+ years) in Aircraft, Aerospace or advanced manufacturing environments Proven leadership experience (3+ years) guiding production teams and delivering results in complex, fast-moving settings Deep knowledge of aircraft systems and integration, with an appreciation for the rigor and precision required in aerospace manufacturing Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts across teams and stakeholders Hands-on experience in electrical and/or mechanical systems, with a willingness to stay close to the hardware A collaborative mindset and strong problem-solving instincts, especially when working across engineering, production, and quality teams A natural curiosity and attention to detail, paired with a willingness to dive deep, challenge assumptions, and provide thoughtful, constructive feedback Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed to support the team. Desired Desired Experience with final assembly or integration of complex systems (aerospace, automotive, or similar high-reliability industries) Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Kaizen) Experience scaling production in a startup or high-growth environment Knowledge of manufacturing process development, tooling design, and production readiness (DFM/DFA) Exposure to regulatory and certification environments (e.g., FAA compliance) Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities and timelines Experience with digital manufacturing tools, MES systems, or data-driven production optimization Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment preferred Additional Information Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $137,400 - $188,900/yr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
