The&nbsp;Bluebonnet Detention Center&nbsp;in&nbsp;Anson,&nbsp;TX&nbsp;is looking for your compassionate care and expertise in our medical department! Our dedicated staff work to improve lives through education, healthcare, and a variety of support services.</strong></p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0in\"><strong>Position Summary:&nbsp;</strong>Responsible for providing nursing care of specific patients under the direction of a physician. Follows established nursing standards, procedures, and practices and give specific patient care direction to nursing and other staff in compliance with MTC Medical and customer directives.</p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0in\"><strong>Essential Functions:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Follow established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.</li>\n <li>Provide direct patient care, evaluate outcomes, consult with specialists as required and adjust treatment processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.</li>\n <li>Perform CPR when necessary.</li>\n <li>Monitor medical condition of patients and report and document changes appropriate to scope of practice.</li>\n <li>Diagnose and treat patients appropriately, exercising independent judgment, initiating an effective course of action.</li>\n <li>Perform daily information rounds and prepare notes on detainees assigned to medical housing.</li>\n <li>Perform basic procedures including thermal applications, non-sterile soaks, application of dressings and casts.</li>\n <li>Order diagnostic and therapeutic services and assess efficiency, documenting results and making needed changes.</li>\n <li>Consult with facility medical director in a collaborative and cooperative relationship.</li>\n <li>Maintain accurate and comprehensive charting on patient medical records.</li>\n <li>Enhance professional development through participation in educational programs, in-service and workshops.</li>\n <li>Attend scheduled staff meetings; promote communications and proper flow of relevant information in the medical unit.</li>\n <li>Utilize established corporate, facility and corrections policies and procedures in making decisions,<br>\n   while using sound independent judgment in performing the duties of the position.</li>\n <li>Implement basic cost containment and utilization management for patient care and facility operations.</li>\n <li>Maintain security and confidentiality of all patients’ medical records; observes applicable HIPAA rules.</li>\n <li>Closely monitor all potential catastrophic illnesses.</li>\n <li>Comply with all applicable pharmacy regulations, especially those covering controlled substances.</li>\n <li>Assist corporate counsel with responses to detainee lawsuits.</li>\n <li>Facilitate, where applicable, NCCHC/ACA accreditation of the medical program by providing the required level of efficiency and approved appropriate medical services.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Comply with requirements of applicable regulations, laws, policies, standards, and contracts.</li>\n <li>Perform rescue functions at accidents, emergencies, and disasters to include administering basic emergency medical aid, physically removing people away from dangerous situations, and securing and evacuating people from confined areas.</li>\n <li>Requires long periods of walking and standing.<br>\n   &nbsp;</li>\n</ul>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0in\"><strong>Education and Experience Requirements:&nbsp;</strong>Graduation from an accredited program and current licensure in the state of Texas as a nurse practitioner required. All education related to the licensure is required. Any additional licenses or certifications (i.e. DEA registration) required. Two (2) to five (5) years’ experience is recommended, preferably in the correctional environment or emergency medicine. Current CPR certification required. Must successfully complete required pre-service training.
