This role balances high editorial standards with audience growth, operational discipline, and collaborative leadership across departments. The ideal candidate brings deep newsroom experience, strong people leadership, and a clear understanding of how modern audiences consume and engage with local news.</p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><p>Editorial Leadership &amp; Strategy</p><p>&bull; Set and execute the editorial vision for Idaho Press across print, digital, and social platforms</p><p>&bull; Ensure consistent journalistic standards, ethics, accuracy, and AP style compliance</p><p>&bull; Edit and oversee enterprise, investigative, and daily news coverage</p><p>&bull; Guide coverage priorities to reflect community relevance, accountability, and impact</p><p>&bull; Lead planning and execution of special sections, projects, and long-term editorial initiatives</p><p><strong>Digital Strategy &amp; Audience Growth</strong></p><p>&bull; Drive a digital-first publishing mindset across the newsroom</p><p>&bull; Collaborate on audience engagement strategies including newsletters, social media, and web optimization</p><p>&bull; Use analytics and audience data to inform content decisions and newsroom priorities</p><p>&bull; Encourage innovation in storytelling formats including multimedia, video, and interactive content</p><p>&bull; Partner with digital, product, and advertising teams to align editorial strategy with audience growth goals</p><p><strong>Team Leadership &amp; Development</strong></p><p>&bull; Lead, mentor, and develop editors, reporters, and contributors across the organization</p><p>&bull; Collaborate with pagination, design, and production teams to ensure efficient execution</p><p>&bull; Manage freelance budgets, contributor assignments, and editorial resources</p><p>&bull; Serve as a visible, trusted representative of Idaho Press within the community</p><p>&bull; Build and maintain relationships with public officials, community leaders, and readers</p><p>&bull; Respond professionally to reader feedback, corrections, and community concerns</p><p><strong>Required Qualifications</strong></p><p>&bull; Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in journalism, Communications, or related field</p><p>&bull; 7+ years of newsroom experience, including senior editorial leadership</p><p>&bull; Strong editing skills with mastery of AP style and journalistic standards</p><p>&bull; Demonstrated experience leading teams in a deadline-driven environment</p><p>&bull; Proven understanding of digital publishing platforms and newsroom workflows</p><p>&bull; Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills</p><p>&bull; Knowledge of media law, ethics, and public records</p><p><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></p><p>&bull; Experience leading a multi-platform or multi-publication newsroom</p><p>&bull; Strong understanding of SEO, analytics, and audience development tools</p><p>&bull;
