The<br />\r\nomission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is<br />\r\nsimilar, related, or is an essential function of the position.<br />\r\n<strong>Duties and Responsibilities</strong><br />\r\n Follow the treatment plan for patients under the direction of the supervising OT<br />\r\n Work closely with patients, family members and other care team members to adequately<br />\r\nplan for patient needs, to include short term and long term goals<br />\r\n Verify patient information and confirm purpose of treatment<br />\r\n Monitor each movement to ensure the patient is performing them properly to avoid<br />\r\nnew/further injuries<br />\r\n Effectively communicate with supervisor and other health team members regarding<br />\r\npatient progress, barriers, and treatment plans<br />\r\n Chart appropriately and timely<br />\r\n Assist the Occupational Therapist in patient development, recovery, and improving skills<br />\r\nneeded for daily functionalities<br />\r\n Must demonstrate dependability and regular attendance<br />\r\n Must utilize good body mechanics at all times<br />\r\n Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such actions</p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Personnel Functions</strong><br />\r\n Maintain an excellent working relationship within the Therapy team and cross<br />\r\nfunctionally<br />\r\n Report occupational exposures of blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous<br />\r\nchemicals in accordance with the facility&rsquo;s policies and procedures governing accidents<br />\r\nand incidents<br />\r\n Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as<br />\r\nwell as a calm environment throughout the facility<br />\r\n<strong>Staff Development</strong><br />\r\n Attend and participate in continuing educational programs designed to keep you abreast<br />\r\nof changes in your profession, as well as to maintain any applicable licenses<br />\r\n Attend meetings and in-services as required<br />\r\n Complete assigned Relias training timely<br />\r\n<strong>Equipment and Supply Functions</strong><br />\r\n Recommend to the DOR equipment and supply needs for the department<br />\r\n Make periodic rounds to check equipment and to assure that necessary equipment is<br />\r\navailable and working properly<br />\r\n Clean equipment<br />\r\n Check supply rooms to assure that needed supplies are on hand<br />\r\n Ensure that all therapy equipment is operating in a safe manner<br />\r\n Ensure that therapy supplies are used in an efficient manner to avoid waste<br />\r\n Ensure that appropriate cleaning supplies are on hand to perform necessary clean-up<br />\r\n<strong>Care Plan and Assessment Functions</strong><br />\r\n May assist in the development of preliminary and comprehensive assessments of the<br />\r\ntherapy needs of each patient<br />\r\n Develop and maintain a good rapport with all services involved with the care plan to<br />\r\nensure that a team effort is achieved in developing a comprehensive plan of care<br />\r\nResident Rights<br />\r\n Maintain the confidentiality of all patient care information<br />\r\n Know and practice the Center&rsquo;s policy on patient/residents rights<br />\r\n<strong>Miscellaneous</strong><br />\r\n Be sure that appropriate protective clothing/devices are on hand and used for handling<br />\r\ninfectious waste and/or blood/body fluids<br />\r\n Flexibility with schedule to cover the needs of the department<br />\r\n<strong>Working Conditions</strong><br />\r\n Works in the Therapy gym, patient rooms, in offices, as well as throughout the Center<br />\r\n Move continuously during working hours<br />\r\n Subject to frequent interruptions<br />\r\n Involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under<br />\r\nall conditions and circumstances<br />\r\n Subject to hostile and emotionally upset patient, family members, etc.<br />\r\n Communicate with the medical staff, nursing services, and other department supervisors</p>\r\n\r\n<p><br />\r\n Work beyond normal working hours, on weekends and in other positions temporarily,<br />\r\nwhen necessary</p>\r\n\r\n<p> Subject to call-back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-<br />\r\ndisaster, etc.)</p>\r\n\r\n<p> Subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the day, as<br />\r\nwell as to reactions from dust, disinfectants, and other air contaminants<br />\r\n Subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc.,<br />\r\n May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals</p>\r\n",
