Change.org is searching for a Fixed-Term Communication Strategist to help Change.org drive and get media coverage on big, brand-defining campaigns led by our users with a focus on conservative campaigns. You will report to our Senior Communications Manager . As a key member of our MarComms , you’ll lead high-impact campaigns by driving media coverage, influencer engagement, and strong content across channels, leverage timely news and partnerships with petition starters to maximize campaign reach and success. Change.org is the world’s largest platform for democracy. At a time when dissatisfaction with democracy globally is at an all-time high, we’re investing heavily in using AI to build the most powerful tools in the world to give people greater voice, while bringing people across the political spectrum together to identify shared solutions. Our core petitions platform, used by more than 100 million people annually, is growing rapidly - and we are rebuilding it from the ground-up using new tools to turn anyone into a powerful civic leader on the issues they care about. Soon we will launch a new platform to identify the >80% of issues that most people agree on, locally and nationally, and to mobilize hundreds of millions of people to advocate for those common-ground solutions. To realize this vision, we’re expanding the most talented team in the world at the intersection of technology and social impact - all focused every day on building healthier democracies globally. Key Outcomes: Identify campaigns for our team to test over email, social and press that would likely resonate with conservative media. Consistently bring in top tier media coverage on a select number of powerful campaigns. Consistently get social media influencers to promote campaigns within your portfolio, work with our social team to generate content for our channels that performs well. Support petition starters to drive their campaigns to victory and talk about their campaign to press. Write brand emails that perform well to a wide swath of Change.org ’s email audience. Be on top of compelling news stories to help with campaign selection and escalation. Use media to drive campaign impact, victory, and brand awareness; including pitching to press, building reporter lists, and suggesting stories for social media. The most important core competencies for the role are: Strong writing skills, with experience writing press notes, marketing emails, and social content. Strong media skills, including experience working with and pitching to journalists, participating in media strategies that gain the attention of key stakeholders, and using media to build brand affinity. Extensive network of relationships with journalists and influencers who cover conservative issues. Demonstrated success organizing social campaigns and getting the attention of decision-makers. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, rapid response environment. Experience building complex, data-driven campaign strategies. A strong sense of what petitions will perform well on social media. Willingness to work across differences, including providing support to policy-compliant campaigns that you may not agree with, but that align with Change.org ’s commitment to being an open platform.   Target experience: 3-6 years working in social organizing, campaigning or advocacy 7+ years working in communications   Interested? Our compensation philosophy is based on pay equity. All of our salaries are determined before we launch a role – they are based on a predetermined salary scale, the level on that scale and the cost of labor for that location. The annual salary of a Communication Strategist is $150,000 in SF/NY; $142,500 in Austin, Boston, Chicago, DC, Los Angeles and Seattle; $127,500 in all other US locations. Benefits and perks also vary based on location.
