Join us at Easterseals NY- Story Ave for an exciting career as a Teacher Assistant</strong></p></div><div>&nbsp;</div><p><strong>What You'll Do</strong></p><div>As a Teacher Assistant for our preschool program you will work under the supervision of the classroom teacher and assist in caring for the physical and emotional needs of students. You will supervise class when the teacher is involved in other activities and attend staffing and departmental in-service as assigned.</div><p>&nbsp;</p><p><span><strong>Your Responsibilities Will Include:</strong></span></p><ul><li>Order supplies for the classroom under teacher's supervision.</li><li>Provide services to individuals with varied behavior issues which may include physical aggression, verbal assault, inappropriate sexual comments, gesture, and acts.</li><li>Perform residential responsibilities as required for days when there is no school.</li><li>Supervise teaching assistants in the educational and residential settings.</li><li>Maintain strong knowledge of individual student educational plans.</li><li>Design classroom programs under the direct guidance of the classroom teacher and Coordinator of Education.</li><li>Develop behavioral plans and incentive programs for students.</li><li>Ensure the daily completion of the time-out log.</li><li>Provide lesson plans in written form for the classroom.</li><li>Help organize and supervise extracurricular activities.</li><li>Develop and implement recreational activities in the community.</li><li>Develop and supervise work sites for students in the community.</li></ul><div><div><div><p><span><strong>You're a great fit for this role if you have:</strong></span></p><ul><li>High School education or GED, Bachelor's Degree preferred.</li><li>Two (2) years practical experience working with children is preferred.</li><li>Level I NYS Teacher Assistant Certification.</li></ul><p><strong>Compensation:</strong></p><ul><li><p>$17-22/hr&nbsp;(depending on credentials and experience)</p><p>&nbsp;</p></li></ul><p><strong>Who We Are</strong></p><p>Easterseals is a standard-bearer for creating equity and access for people with disabilities and other barriers to long term self-sufficiency.
