Description

THOR Solutions is actively seeking a Senior-Level SHAREM Exercise Planner to support the U.S. Navy’s Ship Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Readiness and Effectiveness Measuring (SHAREM) program at the Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC) in San Diego, CA . The SHAREM program assesses the readiness and effectiveness of sensors, systems, weapons, and countermeasures employed by individual and groups of platforms to meet specified objectives in tactically and operationally relevant environments. An ideal candidate will have a background in U.S. Navy Undersea Warfare (USW) exercise and event planning, test plan development, and data collection. Typical Responsibilities: Coordinate objectives, plans, and logistics with external Navy operational staffs, Navy Warfare Centers, and range facilities. Develop test and data collection plans. Develop and deliver planning conference briefs. Draft naval messages. Participate in planning conferences supporting exercises. Draft Test Plan/OPORD, Data Collection Plan and Analysis Plan based upon input generated during planning conferences. During exercises, assist ships’ company in comprehending and executing plans, and ensure they collect pertinent data required to support exercise reconstruction and analysis. Communicate exercise results orally and in written formats to representatives of naval commands, engineering labs, and program offices. Assist in providing insight during ad hoc workshops and conferences. Location: Full time onsite (no remote/hybrid) at Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC) on Naval Base San Diego in San Diego, CA. Travel Requirements: Up to 20% travel is anticipated. Typical Physical Activity: Primarily desk/computer work in an office environment. Periodic visits to waterfront/shipboard environments. May involve: repetitive motion, traversing shipboard environments (e.g., confined spaces, ladders, hatches), speaking or vision. Typical Pay Range:  The anticipated pay range for this position in the identified location(s) is $90,000 - $100,000/year. Actual compensation offered will be based upon individual factors including education, qualifications, and experience. Existing Security Clearance Required:  This position requires a DoD Secret security clearance. A qualified candidate must already possess an active or interim security clearance. A candidate with especially strong, relevant experience but no active security clearance may still be considered, but work start would be dependent upon a new Secret clearance being awarded. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:   High School diploma, GED, or equivalent. Eight (8) to ten (10) years of U.S. Navy experience. Four (4) years of experience in planning naval Undersea Warfare (USW) exercises that coordinate multiple ships/units. Excellent analytical problem-solving skills. Capability of preparing reports and correspondence that are technically correct. Proficient with common productivity software, including the Microsoft Office suite. Excellent communication skills. Additional Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Bachelors degree (ideally in a technical discipline).
