Participates, with senior nursing leadership, in setting strategic direction for key programs.</p>\n<p>Job Responsibility</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>1.Directs and has 24-hour responsibility for the overall assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care of a designated department or service line within the hospital.<br/>2.Participates, with senior nursing leadership, in developing nursing strategic plan for area of responsibility.<br/>3.Implements policies and programs that align with strategic goals and organization mission, vision, and values.<br/>4.Creates and communicates a shared vision, through influential leadership, to effectuate hospital and organizational goals.<br/>5.Functions as a key clinical leader and regularly collaborates with physician leaders and department administrators to achieve top level outcomes.<br/>6.Upholds and advances high quality patient and family centered care in a healing environment.<br/>7.Ensures a professional work environment is created and maintained that fosters team member respect, engangement, accountability and optimal patient outcomes.<br/>8.Promotes appreciative inquiry and evidence-based, ethical and compassionate practice.<br/>9.Directs staffing for patient care units. Collaborates with HR to fulfill requirements<br/>10.Selects, develops, manages and evaluates nurse leaders. Provides direction and guidance to patient care unit supervisors and managers.<br/>11.Facilitates performance reviews, promotions, pay and corrective actions.<br/>12.Serves as a role model for standards of professional practice (clinical, educational and leadership).<br/>13.Participates in succession planning and provides career development planning for team members.<br/>14.Educates patient care unit supervisors and managers in new and existing department procedures and systems (information systems, fiscal responsibility, etc.).<br/>15.Develops and oversees management of budgets. Monitors budget performance and develops and communicates action plans when variances are present.<br/>16.Creates and monitors performance metrics that support decision-making to achieve optimal performance levels.<br/>17.Ensures adherence to the established care delivery model, using knowledge of scope and standards of practice.<br/>18.Facilitates continual compliance for all responsible departments with the JC, CMS, New York State, DOH, Public Health Law, HIPPA regulations and System, hospital and department standards.<br/>19.Ensures all regulations and standards are addressed and current in policies and procedures.<br/>20.Demonstrates advanced knowledge of clinical competencies for patient population of oversight in order to direct patient care.<br/>21.Maintains current knowledge of scope and standards of practice, healthcare legislation, and population health.<br/>22.Identifies and leads opportunities to initiate operational change across departments/service line unit using evidence-based strategies and solutions.<br/>23.Performs related duties as required. Duties not mentioned here, but considered related are not essential functions.</p>\n<p>Job Qualification</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>Master's Degree, required.
