Description
Coordinates administrative and/or operational functions of an organizational unit under the supervision of a manager or director. May supervise and/or provide guidance to employees or be responsible for the management of programs, initiatives or events.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Meets consistently (minimally weekly) with assigned clients as a trusted mentor, confidant, and role model throughout the client’s entire gambling treatment and post-treatment program with the goal of facilitating engaged participation. Uses independent judgment within the scope of the practice of a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist. Meets with an interdisciplinary team, including clinicians and a supervising psychologist, to track and revise PRS support as directed.
Provide a safe and supportive environment for clients to share their experiences and learn coping strategies during day-to-day interactions. Includes phone calls, texts, and email communications during normal business hours and during on-call schedules from a university-assigned phone number. Responds to website inquiries regarding TGC services from clients, therapists, and the public.
Engages with and monitors clients following treatment to support maintenance goals and engagement in responsible gambling strategies and life skills such as organization, time management, financial literacy, and financial planning. Makes referrals to community resources as needed.
Assists with community education and gambling-prevention efforts including but not limited to community talks, trainings, and supporting screening for gambling-related harm.
Monitors and records client interactions, including post-treatment and outreach efforts, to enable assessment of and improvements to treatment protocol. Maintains records of on-call contacts.
Engages in continuing education and maintains CPRS credentials. Attends supervision with licensed psychologist and supervising peer recovery specialist.
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Two (2) years of appropriate work experience and have the ability to be certified as a Peer Recovery Specialist with experience associated with addiction. Relevant experience may substitute for the required education. Must have a valid driver license. Desirable start date July 1, 2026.
