Responsible for assisting patients with day to day activities such as dressing, feeding, personal hygiene, transferring to and from bed or wheelchairs, and rehabilitative exercises. Must have graduated from a nursing assistant training program. Certified Nurse Aid (CRN) certificate required.</p>\n\n<p>B. Provides basic nursing care to patients under the direct supervision of the Charge Nurse or registered nurse (RN).</p>\n\n<p><strong>Principal Functions and Responsibilities:</strong></p>\n\n<p>A. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, Quality Improvement program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.</p>\n\n<p>B. Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings.</p>\n\n<p>C. Attends meetings as required.</p>\n\n<p>D. Maintains positive and effective relations with co-workers, other departments, patients and visitors.</p>\n\n<p>E. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.</p>\n\n<p> </p>\n\n<p><strong>Patient Care Responsibilities:</strong></p>\n\n<p>A. Obtains and documents patient vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, blood sugar, weight, respiration and pulse.</p>\n\n<p>B. Performs basic nursing procedures including thermal applications, non-sterile soaks, application of simple dressing, perennial care, and urine tests.</p>\n\n<p>C. Provides personal care assistance to patients, including bathing, dressing, bed pans and transportation.</p>\n\n<p>D. Demonstrates sensitivity to patient comfort and privacy.</p>\n\n<p>E. Assists patients who need help with eating their meals.</p>\n\n<p>F. Records intake and output of fluids on all patients designated for such observation.</p>\n\n<p>G. Answers patient call lights.</p>\n\n<p>H. Prints telemetry strips every four hours and provides to RN when completed.</p>\n\n<p> </p>\n\n<p><strong>Clinical Duties:</strong></p>\n\n<p>A. Verifies that all permits, authorizations, releases and other required forms are included in the patient record.</p>\n\n<p>B. Maintains patient records and documents to ensure an accurate account of the patient’s medical treatment.</p>\n\n<p>C. Maintains confidentiality of patient and unit care data. D. Answers telephone, receives and delivers messages.</p>\n\n<p>E. Admits and discharges patients with appropriate documents.</p>\n\n<p>F. Maintains a clean nurses’ station.</p>\n\n<p>G. Assures continuity of care by attending shift huddle from proceeding shift and communicating with RN regarding changes in patient’s condition.</p>\n\n<p>H.
