Description
Overview
The Phlebotomist will collect and handle various sample types from patients of all ages in a professional and compassionate manner. Certification in phlebotomy and/or relevant experience in patient care is a plus. Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on patient interaction. This Full-time position will be scheduled to work Monday thru Friday from 9:00am - 5:30pm.
Responsibilities:
Maintain accuracy in all work; Complete tasks on time and per any deadlines, label specimens with a high degree of accuracy, ensure proper tubes are used for each blood test ordered
Verify the identity of every patient before collecting any samples
identification and sample collection using paper orders in the event of an interruption in computer service
Be aware of Medicare guidelines, send-out test requirements, and special tests; Explain Medicare ABNs to patients clearly and accurately
Perform venipuncture and finger/heel stick procedures with a high degree of professionalism and concern for the patient, including a minimum of 2 sticks per encounter
Collect nasal and throat swabs and blood cultures when needed
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
Experience preferred; but not required
