It is the world’s leading center for pediatric burn care and is the only American Burn Association (ABA) exclusively pediatric verified burn center in New England and New York.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p></p>\n<h2>Job Overview</h2>\n<p>The Child Life Specialist provides comprehensive, purposeful, developmentally appropriate, and culturally sensitive, family-centered care. This care is focused on meeting the psychosocial and developmental needs of children and families. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>This is a per diem position.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The pay range for this position is $24.16 hourly to $36.24 hourly. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and department equity.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Provides evaluation and therapeutic services, direct patient care and patient/family education, in an efficient manner. Services may include therapeutic play, preparation, procedural support, special events, and reintegration programming. The child life specialist utilizes these practices in an effort to facilitate adaptive coping techniques and promote normal growth and development of the patient and family.</li>\n <li>Performs an individualized assessment to collect comprehensive and accurate data necessary to assess development, temperament, coping style, medical plan, cultural preferences and practices and available social supports in order to develop an individualized development plan.</li>\n <li>Plans and implements an individualized treatment plan that identifies goals and evidence based treatment intervention strategies</li>\n <li>Participates in interdisciplinary patient care planning</li>\n <li>Utilizes the EMR to document relevant patient and family information</li>\n <li>Plans, implements or assists with camps/workshops/special events. </li>\n <li>Functions as a team member and develops leadership through activities such as mentoring and providing education to students and other professionals.  </li>\n</ul>\n<p>This is not an all-inclusive list of this job’s responsibilities. The incumbent may be required to perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.</p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Education</strong></p>\n<p>Bachelor’s degree in Child Life, Child Development or related field required</p>\n<p>Masters degree in Child Life, Child Development or related field preferred</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Certification/Licensure</strong></p>\n<p>Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS), or be eligible to sit for the certification exam.  </p>\n<p>Must obtain CCLS within six months of hire.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Experience</strong></p>\n<p>One year’s experience in a hospital child life program preferred</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>CPR/BLS per facility policy</p>\n<p>Valid Drivers License per facility policy</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><em>Shriners Children’s is an EOE/Drug-Free, Smoke-Free Workplace.</em></p>\n<p> </p>",
