          "text": "<p>Unifin International, a Wabtec Company in London, Ontario, was originally founded in the 1920’s.&#xa0; We are an electric equipment-cooling company, focused on the power generation and transmission markets.&#xa0; Our primary business is within North America, but we reach worldwide from legacy fossil fuel and nuclear plants to growing renewable energy power grids.</p><p>&#xa0;</p><p><strong>Who will you be working with?</strong></p><p>&#xa0;</p><p>As a member of the team at Unifin International, you will be working with 3 other machinists in our Machine Shop Department.&#xa0; You will report to the Production Supervisor and work within a group of 41 unionized employees.&#xa0;</p><p>&#xa0;</p><p><strong>How will you make a difference? </strong></p><p>&#xa0;</p><p>We are looking for a machinist who has the knowledge and confidence to improve our machine shop with today’s tooling technology and efficiencies.&#xa0; Our machine shop consists of four (4) Haas Vertical CNC’s, one (1) Quickmill Vertical CNC, two (2) large radial arm drills and one (1) conventional lathe.&#xa0; Unifin manufactures a specially-designed product that requires special machining knowledge.&#xa0; The successful candidate will continue improving our machine shop process and help lead the department with 3 other machinists.&#xa0; They will also be willing to take initiative, correct process issues, be energetic with a positive attitude and challenge the status quo with continuous improvement techniques.</p><p>&#xa0;</p><p><strong>What do we want to know about you? </strong></p><ul><li>Able to work as an individual or with other departments to meet customer demands and expectations;</li><li>Minimum 5 years’ experience working in a fast-paced machine shop environment running CNC and conventional machines;</li><li>Possess strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of machining principles;</li><li>Proficient in blueprint reading and interpreting engineering specifications;</li><li>Experience with overhead cranes and other material-handling equipment;</li><li>Fusion 360 is a plus.</li></ul><p>&#xa0;</p><p><strong>What will your typical day look like?</strong></p><ul><li>Always thinking of safety first;</li><li>Program G-Code using Master Cam;</li><li>Set up and manually program CNC vertical mills;</li><li>Set up and operate conventional lathe;</li><li>Set up and operate 6-foot radial arm drill;</li><li>Develop, determine correct jigs and fixtures for various parts to be machined;</li><li>Review production schedule and manage time according to workload and machine capacity;</li><li>Review job drawings to ensure tooling and fixturing is available;</li><li>Work with tooling suppliers to determine the best tooling technology needed for Unifin’s machining processes;</li><li>Monitor the speeds and feeds of machines during the machining process;</li><li>Read drawings, calculate dimensions and tolerances using measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers to meet Unifin’s Quality standards;</li><li>Lift parts with an overhead crane;</li><li>Troubleshoot and resolve issues with machines or tools as needed;</li><li>Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles is a plus.</li></ul><p>&#xa0;</p><p><strong>What about the physical demands of the job?</strong></p><p>&#xa0;</p><p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.&#xa0; Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p><p>&#xa0;</p><p>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk and hear.&#xa0; The employee will occasionally lift and or move up to 50 lbs.&#xa0; Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and depth perception.</p><p>&#xa0;</p><p>Safety glasses, steel-toed safety shoes and hearing protection must be worn for the entirety of the shift.</p><p>&#xa0;</p><p><strong>Benefits of Working at Unifin International</strong></p><p>&#xa0;</p><p>Wages:&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0; First six months – probation - $31.59</p><p>&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0; After probation – full rate - $35.10</p><p>&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0; COLA - adjusted quarterly</p><p>Day shift – 40-hour work week; 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; potential overtime during the week and on Saturday;</p><p>Annual vacation; company-paid holidays;</p><p>Benefits, effective upon hire, include health care, dental, vision, life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment, disability coverage, Group RRSP/DPSP</p><p>Safety boot and prescription-safety-glasses allowance;</p><p>On-site parking, on bus route.</p><p>&#xa0;</p><p>Wabtec will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in Canada for this opening. &#xa0;Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background check.</p>",
