The CMM Specialist will operate and maintain the CMM machines to ensure product conformity through quality inspections, including creating new and updating existing CMM programs, interpreting CMM and inspection results, and resolving discrepancies through collaboration with the quality and engineering teams. The CMM Specialist will support the Quality Manager in maintaining an up-to-date library of CMM programs, reports, and all other support documentation as required by internal, industry and customer procedures. The CMM Specialist will report out on daily, weekly, and monthly objectives to management &ndash; including forecasting schedules for critical projects (new or updated CMM programs) &ndash; and follow-up on all actions through completion. &nbsp;The CMM Specialist reports to the Quality Manager and supports the company strategic plan, including the company&rsquo;s mission, vision and values.</span></p><p style='margin:0in;font-size:16px;font-family:\"Palatino Linotype\",serif;color:black;'><span style='font-size:15px;font-family:\"Calibri\",sans-serif;color:windowtext;'>&nbsp;</span></p><p style='margin-top:0in;margin-right:0in;margin-bottom:.1in;margin-left:0in;font-size:11.0pt;font-family:\"Calibri\",sans-serif;line-height:normal;background:white;'><strong><span style=\"color:black;\">Principle Duties and Responsibilities</span></strong></p><ul style=\"margin-bottom:0in;margin-top:0in;\" type=\"disc\"><li style='margin-top:0in;margin-right:0in;margin-bottom:.1in;margin-left:0in;font-size:11.0pt;font-family:\"Calibri\",sans-serif;line-height:normal;background:     white;'><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;color:black;\">Follow safety policies and maintain 5S practices throughout the department; the CMM and inspection areas should be a good example for safety and 5S for the site.</span></li><li style='margin-top:0in;margin-right:0in;margin-bottom:.1in;margin-left:0in;font-size:11.0pt;font-family:\"Calibri\",sans-serif;line-height:normal;background:     white;'><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;color:black;\">Use, operate and program the CMM machines with PC-DMIS software &ndash; TPT uses a combination of Hexagon and Brown &amp; Sharpe CMM machines. The output will be all required measurement data into a CMM report that can be easily understood by engineering and quality personnel.</span></li><li style='margin-top:0in;margin-right:0in;margin-bottom:.1in;margin-left:0in;font-size:11.0pt;font-family:\"Calibri\",sans-serif;line-height:normal;background:     white;'><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;color:black;\">Perform all types of surface plate setup inspections, dimensional and layout inspections, and other manual inspections on manufactured parts and fixtures/tooling using industry standard aerospace measurement equipment and gages. The CMM Specialist will be routinely inspecting parts with tolerances between .001 and .0001 inches. The CMM Specialist will have a solid understanding of mechanical metrology, tolerance ratios, technical specifications, mathematical unit conversions, statistical inference, fundamentals of planar and solid geometry, and trigonometry.</span></li><li style='margin-top:0in;margin-right:0in;margin-bottom:.1in;margin-left:0in;font-size:11.0pt;font-family:\"Calibri\",sans-serif;line-height:normal;background:     white;'><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;color:black;\">Perform first article inspections (AS9102) using the CMM machine(s) and/or industry standard aerospace measurement equipment and gages. First article inspections may be for legacy parts with a lapse in production, for new parts that were recently awarded, or for parts where the customer requires additional inspections through contract.</span></li><li style='margin-top:0in;margin-right:0in;margin-bottom:.1in;margin-left:0in;font-size:11.0pt;font-family:\"Calibri\",sans-serif;line-height:normal;background:     white;'><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;color:black;\">Ensure quality and accuracy for all measurements taken and for all work completed. All CMM and inspection outputs should be thoroughly checked for accuracy to ensure the highest level of quality assurance.</span></li><li style='margin-top:0in;margin-right:0in;margin-bottom:.1in;margin-left:0in;font-size:11.0pt;font-family:\"Calibri\",sans-serif;line-height:normal;background:     white;'><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;color:black;\">Understand ASME Y14.5 (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing &ndash; GD&amp;T) with the ability to apply these fundamentals to engineering drawings, specifications, and procedures. The CMM Specialist must have the ability to collaborate with engineering and quality personnel for any interpretation or troubleshooting. The CMM Specialist will have very strong technical knowledge of GD&amp;T principles and will be able to read, understand, and follow written procedures, mechanical drawings, and engineering rendering including those with GD&amp;T callouts.</span></li><li style='margin-top:0in;margin-right:0in;margin-bottom:.1in;margin-left:0in;font-size:11.0pt;font-family:\"Calibri\",sans-serif;line-height:normal;background:     white;'><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;color:black;\">Interface and coordinate with the integrated product team (IPT &ndash; Operations, Materials, Quality and Engineering) to align customer inspection requirements for quality, delivery and cost to ensure &lt;0.5% return rate and &gt;95% on-time delivery, while achieving monthly sales goals. &nbsp;The CMM Specialist shall provide timely status of all CMM-related inspection activities including production inspection, new product development (NPD) inspection, and in-process (first-piece) inspection. Problem identification and resolution must be quickly acted upon for schedule attainment.</span></li><li style='margin-top:0in;margin-right:0in;margin-bottom:.1in;margin-left:0in;font-size:11.0pt;font-family:\"Calibri\",sans-serif;line-height:normal;background:     white;'><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;color:black;\">Train other employees on how to run the CMM machine(s) as an operator. This includes setups, basic troubleshooting, running the CMM programs, obtaining results, and basic interpretation of results. The CMM Specialist will support the Quality Manager for assessing proficiency of potential candidates for CMM operator and active CMM operators in-training.
