EO/AA</i></p>\n<p>Under the supervision of a licensed social worker a Certified Peer Support Specialist or Certified Family Peer Support Specialist uses their lived experience; in recovery from mental illness and/or substance use disorder; or as a primary caregiver raising a child who experiences emotional, behavioral, mental health and/or substance use challenges, to assist other individuals experiencing similar circumstances.</p>\n<p>Corporate Overview: The University of Utah is a Level 1 Trauma Center and is nationally ranked and recognized for our academic research, quality standards and overall patient experience. Our five hospitals and eleven clinics provide excellence in our comprehensive services, medical advancement, and overall patient outcomes.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<h3>Essential Functions</h3>\n<ul>\n <li>Responds to provide outreach services to patients.</li>\n <li>Provides crisis intervention services to patients experiencing distress.</li>\n <li>May make referrals to appropriate community resources.</li>\n <li>Follows up with patients and provides support as appropriate.</li>\n <li>May facilitate peer support groups to encourage progress towards recovery goals.</li>\n</ul>\n<h3>Knowledge / Skills / Abilities</h3>\n<ul>\n <li>Ability to perform the essential functions of the job outlined above.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Strong organizational and follow through skills.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Demonstrated human relations and effective verbal and written communication skills.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and problem solve.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Must possess knowledge of community resources, discharge planning, and crisis counseling.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Demonstrate the knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Good interpersonal skills to acquire the trust of patients and respond appropriately in a crisis situation.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Knowledge of HIPPA and ability to adhere to the requirements.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<h4>Required</h4>\n<ul>\n <li>Certified Peer Specialist or Certified Family Peer Support License must be obtain within a year of hired.</li>\n</ul>\n<h3>Licenses Required</h3>\n<ul>\n <li>Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system.
