TENURE-TRACK FINANCE FACULTY POSITION
CURRENT OPENING
Ottawa University, OTTAWA, KS CAMPUS
Ottawa University’s Gwartney Institute for Freedom, Justice, and Human Flourishing (GI) is seeking to fill a tenure-track, 12 month appointment as associate or assistant professor position to help lead the institute in its mission to create a unique scholarly and educational environment for the examination and study of economic freedom and justice, and their role in the advancement of human flourishing . The position will be located at the Ottawa, KS Residential Campus, and will work with students from all sites (Kansas, Arizona, Wisconsin and Online). Limited travel to the undergraduate residential campus in Surprise, AZ will be expected for some programming activities. Responsible for providing engaging and effective instruction as well as academic mentoring for undergraduates; developing, assessing, and assuring excellent pedagogy and curriculum design, both within the discipline and in contributions to the Liberal Arts core program; promoting student achievement and academic integrity on behalf of the University; collaboration with support services provided through units such as the Adawe Academic Advising Center; Academic program development for currency, growth, recruitment, and retention.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching and Advising
Teaching Load: Teaching a full-tine course load, defined as 10 courses per year, or the equivalent of 30 credit hours.
Teaching Standards: Maintain a high standard in classroom teaching through engaging and effective pedagogy, exhibiting awareness and understanding of best practices in undergraduate education through application in the classroom, and remaining current with issues, curriculum, and classroom approaches in both the liberal arts and the candidate’s academic discipline.
Advising: Attend to student needs and concerns, and work with each student’s advising team members to identify and develop opportunities for each individual learner. Collaborate as needed in scheduling courses, addressing academic concerns, and supporting efforts in retention.
Service
Participate in Campus and University-wide governance by responding to and engaging in dialogue related to academic issues across the university.
Scholarship
Maintain awareness of contemporary trends and evolving knowledge within one’s academic discipline and in the liberal arts through research, creative work, writing, conference attendance (either virtually or at designated location), public presentations (in-person and virtually), and other involvement in the regional and national community of higher education professionals.
Assessment
Maintain effective curricula through participation in university-wide assessment processes.
Gwartney Institute
Support the mission of the Gwartney Institute: Gwartney Institute | Angell Snyder School of Business | Ottawa University
Speaking engagements at high schools and other venues to recruit student scholars and to promote economic education in the high school curriculum.
Help build a national profile through social and other media, as an expert on economic freedom.
Assist with the Faith and Economics weekly podcast.
Work collaboratively with other Gwartney staff (two other professors, two graduate assistants and an undergrad scholar).
Work with the OU Advancement office on future funding of Institute initiatives, including meeting with potential donors and building an annual report.
General
As key members of our academic community, faculty are expected to abide by all rules and regulations contained in the University Faculty Handbook and the University Employment Policies Handbook. This information is available and open for reading or examination at any time.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
Education : Master’s degree in any business discipline or economics with at least 18 graduate credit hours in finance, earned Doctorate preferred (ABD considered).
Experience : Three years of higher education experience, preferably in a residential liberal arts setting, and/or five years of industry experience preferred.
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Excellent teaching aptitudes.
Ability to work collaboratively with fellow university faculty as well as departments that support student life and academic achievement.
Ability to teach effectively in an undergraduate classroom.
Ability to be flexible in adjusting to and responding to both student and local university needs and concerns.
Proven interpersonal and communication skills.
Interest in curriculum development.
