Do you thrive in a hands-on role where you can teach and model essential skills such as personal hygiene, nutrition, routines, and wellness practices?  Join our team at OPI Houston as a \n<strong>Life Skills Specialist</strong> and make a meaningful impact supporting young adults as they develop daily living skills, social skills, and emotional regulation. In this role, you’ll work in a supportive, mission - driven behavioral health environment using person - centered, relationship - based approaches to promote independence, community integration, and long - term success. You’ll also gain access to ongoing training, mentorship, and career growth opportunities while making a lasting difference in the lives of those you serve.\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Facilitate and manage life skills classes such as implementing healthy habits, managing personal space, money management, and time management</li>\n <li>Identify individual skill deficits and create personalized teaching opportunities to build independence and daily living skills</li>\n <li>Utilize client assessments to develop and reinforce healthy habits, routines, and independent living skills</li>\n <li>Provide direct support through one-on-one and small group interactions, fostering engagement, growth, and confidence</li>\n <li>Use structured teaching strategies and quality instructional techniques to scaffold life skills development and milestones</li>\n <li>Observe, assess, and actively teach life skills through hands-on instruction, modeling, and real-life experiences</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li><strong>Age:</strong> 21 years of age or older</li>\n <li><strong>Education</strong>: Bachelors Degree in Education, Mental Health, Occupational Therapy, or related discipline.</li>\n <li>Experience in working with at-risk youth or young adults.</li>\n <li>Previous experience teaching, coaching, or training individuals in life skills, education, behavioral health, or similar settings preferred</li>\n <li>High level of communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain concepts, actively listen, and build trust with diverse populations</li>\n <li>Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage, motivate, and support individuals in both one-on-one and group settings</li>\n <li>Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping others develop independence and confidence</li>\n <li>Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team</li>\n <li>Skilled in teaching and motivating young adults.</li>\n <li>Must pass pre-employment drug screen and federal and state background check in concordance with Texas state laws.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Benefits</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Access to an established Mastery Program that offers professional and financial opportunities for professional growth.</li>\n <li><strong>Employee Assistance Program (EAP)</strong> – Free, confidential support for life’s challenges.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>OPI is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.</strong> We are committed to enriching the therapeutic and healing experience we offer through the diversity of our employees and community.
