Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. Our team is highly collaborative, and much of our work benefits from in‑person co‑creation, relationship‑building, and hands‑on partnership with leaders across the organization.&nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp;</div><p>At Metrolinx, equity, diversity and inclusion are essential to living our values of serving with passion, thinking forward and playing as a team.</p><p>Our&nbsp;<u>Asset Management and Maintenance&nbsp;</u>Safety Office&nbsp;is&nbsp;seeking a Senior Safety Officer to supervise the administration of the safety program and&nbsp;monitor&nbsp;ongoing alignment with legal and regulatory requirements and the Metrolinx Safety Management System (SMS).&nbsp;&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;</p><div><strong>What will I be doing?</strong></div><div>&nbsp;</div><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li>Implements safety management programs to&nbsp;eliminate&nbsp;hazards, mitigate risk, and align with the Metrolinx Safety Management Systems; implements corrective action plans to ensure non-compliance issues are addressed appropriately.<span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"> </span><span>&nbsp;</span></li><li>Reviews incident investigations report tracks and analyses accident and injury trends to&nbsp;identify&nbsp;areas for improvement and development and recommend intervention strategies that enhance safety awareness and reduce accidents; prepares safety performance reports for management review.&nbsp;</li><li>Leads and performs safety assurance audits and inspections of the work of business units and external contractors to&nbsp;identify&nbsp;safety hazards associated with the work performed.&nbsp;</li><li>Leads and coordinates with a variety of internal departments to&nbsp;establish&nbsp;annual safety&nbsp;objectives&nbsp;and performance indicators; coordinates with management to develop safety goals,&nbsp;objectives, safety initiatives, and actions plans.&nbsp;</li><li>Liaises with external contractors and safety representatives, and reviews contracts and safety management plans for adherence with safety programs; provides recommendations to meet Metrolinx’ safety requirements.&nbsp;</li><li>Leads and performs risk assessments to eliminate or reduce hazardous effects on the public, passengers, and employees;&nbsp;validates&nbsp;corrective actions plans; works with business units on the implementation of corrective action plans.&nbsp;</li><li>Reports on and investigates critical incidents and those with high-risk potential; investigates or provides close-out of investigations performed by external contractors; coordinates or&nbsp;facilitates&nbsp;complex investigations.&nbsp;</li><li>Liaises and works collaboratively with the broader safety division and business units with respect to hazard identification and control, contractor monitoring, regulatory requirements, accident investigation, and notifications to external authorities.&nbsp;</li><li>Leads the development of, and implements, internal systems to&nbsp;monitor&nbsp;compliance with established policies and procedures.<span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"> </span><span>&nbsp;</span></li></ul><div>&nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div><strong>What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?</strong></div><div>&nbsp;</div><div><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li>Completion of a degree in safety or related discipline – or a combination of education, training and experience&nbsp;deemed&nbsp;equivalent.&nbsp;</li><li>Demonstrated progressive experience developing, coordinating, and&nbsp;monitoring&nbsp;safety programs and activities.&nbsp;</li><li>Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation is an asset.&nbsp;</li><li>Must be able to obtain qualifications in Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR).<span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"> </span><span>&nbsp;</span></li><li>A valid Ontario Class \"G\" driver's license is&nbsp;required.&nbsp;</li><li>Knowledge of the interpretation and application of legislative and regulatory requirements including best practices, procedures, and processes governing occupational health and safety, road&nbsp;transportation&nbsp;and/or rail transportation (e.g., Highway Traffic Act, Railway Safety Act, Occupational Health &amp;
