Vertiv is seeking a highly experienced and driven Engineering Construction Manager to oversee the execution of medium-scale data center infrastructure projects across the United States. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the on-site construction process, ensuring adherence to project specifications, safety standards, engineering documentation and timelines. This position demands strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of mission-critical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Oversight: Manage all aspects of projects from site preparation through commissioning for medium-scale data center projects; primarily for High Density Liquid Cooling Equipment and associated infrastructure.
Vendor Management: Coordinate with general contractors, subcontractors, and third-party vendors, ensuring compliance with scope, schedule, and quality standards.
Schedule Management: Monitor construction schedules, providing regular updates to stakeholders and taking corrective action as needed.
Quality Assurance: Ensure all construction work complies with company standards, client requirements, and applicable codes and regulations.
Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify and manage potential risks, safety issues, and design conflicts; implement mitigation strategies promptly.
Client Interaction: Act as a point of contact for clients on construction-related matters, fostering a professional relationship through clear communication and problem-solving.
Documentation: Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including RFIs, change orders, punch lists, daily reports, and project closeout materials.
Commissioning Support: Work with commissioning agents and Vertiv engineering teams to ensure systems are fully tested and operational before handover.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
7+ years of construction management experience, with at least 3 years focused on mission-critical or data center projects.
Strong understanding of MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) systems and civil/structural construction.
Proven ability to manage medium-scale construction projects with values exceeding $5M.
Excellent knowledge of construction safety practices and OSHA regulations.
Familiarity with construction management software (e.g., Procore, CX Alloy, Primavera, MS Project).
Willingness to travel extensively within the U.S. and remain on-site for extended durations.
Preferred Qualifications:
PMP, CCM, or equivalent construction/project management certifications.
Experience and/or knowledge with High Density Liquid Cooling in data center environments.
Experience with prefabrication, modular builds, or fast-track construction methodologies.
Previous experience working for or with Vertiv or similar data center infrastructure providers.
