Department Overview At Children’s Minnesota PICU in St. Paul Campus, our interdisciplinary team of intensivists, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, nutritionists, social workers and case managers are dedicated to the care of children with life-changing critical diagnoses. We specialize in caring for children experiencing acute and chronic neurological and respiratory illnesses, recovery of extensive surgical interventions and severe infections, in addition to failure of one or more body organ systems. The PICU at Children’s St. Paul is a 12-bed unit for critically ill patients and their families. We care for patients along the continuum of acute recovery to provide for their changing physical and emotional needs as we prepare them to return home. Our patient population requires complex care, including hemodynamic monitoring, critical medication management, maintenance of systemic perfusion and management of organ failure. Our team balances a highly technical skill set with a family-centered approach. We rely on teamwork, with open and respectful communication, and promote an environment that encourages learning and professional growth. Our team is committed to providing excellent care to our patients and families. Position Summary Coordinates and provides family-centered nursing care to infants, children and adolescents, utilizing the nursing process. Accountable for professional practice including independent nursing functions and delegated medical functions performed in collaboration with other health team members.
