Nevada Gold Mines is seeking a motivated Plant Metallurgist to join the Goldstrike Autoclave team. This role is focused on supporting day-to-day metallurgical performance, identifying process issues, and working closely with operations and maintenance to maintain safe, stable, and efficient production. Troubleshooting and Maintenance Coordination:
Investigate short-term process upsets and recommend corrective actions. Coordinate with maintenance to ensure metallurgically critical equipment is functioning properly. Assist in planning and executing shutdown inspections or maintenance projects with a metallurgical impact.
Sampling, Test Work, and Reporting:
Ensure routine sampling programs (autoclave discharge, leach feed, tails) are followed and data is validated. Conduct plant surveys and support small-scale test work to guide process adjustments. Prepare daily and weekly metallurgical reports for internal review.
Safety and Environmental Compliance:
Follow and promote site safety procedures during all metallurgical and field activities. Support compliance with environmental permit conditions and air emission controls specific to autoclaving operations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. 2–5 years of experience in a plant metallurgy role, preferably in gold or hydrometallurgical operations. Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative mindset. Familiarity with process control systems and plant data (e.g., PI System, SCADA, DCS). Basic understanding of refractory ore processing, sulfur chemistry, and leaching. Experience in crushing, autoclaving, or CIL circuits. Proficiency in Excel, metallurgical data analysis, and basic mass balancing. Hands-on experience with daily troubleshooting and shift support in a plant setting.
