Tax Senior (3x Best Firm to Work for)

The Opportunity LevitZacks is seeking a Tax Senior to join our growing team and take on meaningful work from day one. In this role, you’ll work directly with our Partners and Managers and become a core member of a close-knit, collaborative team that serves a diverse and sophisticated client base, including partnerships, S corporations, business owners, trusts, and high-net-worth individuals. What You’ll Do Prepare federal and state income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, and trusts Work with clients to gather and evaluate tax information needed to prepare accurate returns Prepare quarterly estimates and tax projections for business owners and individuals Communicate directly with clients regarding return preparation, open items, estimates, and planning matters Assist with tax planning and identify opportunities to add value for clients Research technical tax issues and document conclusions Stay current on evolving tax laws and regulations Collaborate closely with managers, partners, and other team members across engagements Required Qualifications CPA license or actively pursuing licensure 2–5 years of public accounting tax experience Hands-on experience preparing individual, partnership, and S corporation tax returns Experience with multi-state filings, brokerage statements, and Schedule K-1s Strong knowledge of tax accounting principles and federal and state tax rules Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and bring thoughtful solutions to the table High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines Strong written and verbal communication skills, including confidence communicating directly with clients Collaborative, team-oriented mindset Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship Preferred Qualifications California tax experience Experience with CCH Axcess, CCH Engagement, CCH Axcess Document, and CCH Workflow Experience with real estate, professional services, closely held companies, construction, technology, and high-net-worth individuals What Sets This Role Apart Direct training, coaching, and mentorship from Partners and Managers who are actively involved in your development Meaningful client responsibility, including direct interaction with business owners, high-net-worth individuals, and key decision-makers Exposure to a broad range of tax matters, including business-owner planning, multi-state returns, and opportunities to build technical depth over time A collaborative, team-first environment with a people-oriented culture, a strong commitment to work-life balance, and a focus on professional development A clear path forward for someone who wants to continue growing in public accounting and take on increasing responsibility over time Benefits Flexible PTO Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with employer match Life and disability insurance Paid parking Generous firm holidays Continuing education support CPA license reimbursement Hybrid flexibility Who We Are About LevitZacks For more than 60 years, LevitZacks has served the San Diego business community with high-quality tax, accounting, and business advisory services.
