This role involves technical leadership, project management, and client coordination for complex roadway and multimodal transportation projects across the Mid-Atlantic region and nationally.</span></p><p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\"><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></span></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Lead the design and development of highway and transportation projects, including:&nbsp;<ul type=\"circle\" style=\"font-family: initial; font-size: initial;\"><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Roadway alignments, geometric design, and roadside safety</li><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Multi-modal facilities (pedestrian, bicycle, transit)</li><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Maintenance of traffic and construction staging plans</li></ul></li><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Prepare and review construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports</li><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Ensure compliance with AASHTO, FHWA, and state DOT standards</li><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables</li><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers</li><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders</li><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Support business development through proposal preparation and client presentations&nbsp;</li></ul><p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\"><strong>Requirements:</strong></span></p><ul><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program</li><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Must be certified as a Professional Engineer in the state of Maryland or able to obtain within 6 months through comity from another state</li><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Must have 11-15 years of relevant job experience related to highway engineering</li><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Experience with design software tools such as MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads and AutoCAD preferred</li><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Experience designing and managing highway tasks and projects and preparing contract documents</li><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Knowledge of AASHTO, FHWA, and other relevant highway design guidelines, criteria, and standards required; knowledge of MDOT SHA guidelines, criteria, and standards preferred</li><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)</li><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Positive attitude and willingness to work cooperatively with others</li><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Ability to effectively communicate orally/written at all levels of the organization</li><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Ability to work independently and as part of a team</li><li style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Ability to handle multiple assignments</li></ul><p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\"><strong>Benefits:</strong></span></p><p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">WRA recognizes that employees play an important role in its success.
