Not only is the department responsible for managing over 18,000 kilometers of provincial highways, it also manages the planning, design and construction of hospitals, schools and other government buildings.</span></p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p><span><b>What you will do</b></span></p>\n<p><span>Reporting to the&nbsp;Transportation Maintenance Superintendent, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:</span></p>\n<ul>\n <li><span>providing leadership, guidance, and support to employees, while ensuring effective teamwork and performance;</span></li>\n <li><span>maintaining public relations with the community;</span></li>\n <li><span>overseeing operation and maintenance of equipment;</span></li>\n <li><span>providing effective winter maintenance of highways in accordance with the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure’s policies and guidelines.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p><span><b>Work environment:</b></span></p>\n<ul>\n <li><span>Office location:&nbsp;Val-d’Amour</span></li>\n <li><span>Work holidays, weekends, shift and/or variable hours</span></li>\n <li><span>May work in adverse road and weather conditions</span></li>\n <li><span>We promote a scent-reduced environment.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p><span><b>Who you are</b></span></p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p><span><b>Key behavioural competencies:</b></span></p>\n<ul>\n <li><span>Concern for Order</span></li>\n <li><span>Developing Others</span></li>\n <li><span>Effective Interactive Communication</span></li>\n <li><span>Flexibility</span></li>\n <li><span>Results Orientation</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p><span><b>Essential Qualifications:</b></span></p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p><span><b>Highway Supervisor II:</b></span></p>\n<ul>\n <li><span>Diploma from a recognized two (2) year Civil Engineering Technology program in a related field.</span></li>\n <li><span>Three (3) years of winter maintenance or winter and summer maintenance work experience which includes one (1) year of supervisory experience.</span></li>\n <li><span><b>OR</b> high school graduation or GED and six (6) years of winter maintenance or winter and summer maintenance work which includes one (1) year of supervisory experience.</span></li>\n <li><span>Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.</span></li>\n <li><span>Valid Class 5 driver’s license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span>If there are no applicants with the above essential qualifications, we may consider applicants with the following qualifications and appoint at a lower classification.</span></p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p><span><b>Highway Supervisor I:</b></span></p>\n<ul>\n <li><span>Diploma from a recognized two (2) year Civil Engineering Technology program in a related field</span></li>\n <li><span>One (1) year of related work experience which includes one (1) year of supervisory experience.</span></li>\n <li><span><b>OR</b> high school graduation or GED and four (4) years of winter maintenance work or winter and summer maintenance work experience which includes one (1) year of supervisory experience.</span></li>\n <li><span>Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.&nbsp;</span></li>\n <li><span>Valid Class 5 driver’s license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span>An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.</span></p>\n<p><span>Written and spoken competence in English and French is required.
