Reporting to the Corporate Controller, we are seeking an experienced payroll professional with deep knowledge of Canadian payroll compliance and proven leadership skills to oversee multi jurisdictional payroll and subcontractor payments, benefits and Group RRSP administration, and HR liaison activities — ensuring accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement across all payroll functions.
Duties and Responsibilities
Payroll Administration
Manage full cycle multi jurisdictional payroll processing for salaried and hourly employees and independent contractors, ensuring accurate cost allocation to multiple projects and cost centers and compliance with all applicable federal and provincial legislation including CPP, EI, income tax, WCB, and employment standards
Prepare and submit payroll remittances and required tax forms including T4s, T2200s, and T5018s; perform general ledger reconciliations on labour costs, accruals, benefits, deductions, and related payroll accounts
Support month, quarter, and year end reporting and audit requirements; maintain accurate payroll records and employee data while ensuring confidentiality and data security
Manage the payroll team including delegating work to meet deadlines, reviewing accuracy, training, coaching, and resource planning
Benefit & RRSP Administration
Administer employee benefit programs including health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, and wellness plans; manage enrollments, terminations, status changes, and benefit updates; act as the primary contact for employee benefit and claim inquiries
Administer the Group RRSP and employer matching programs including enrollments, contribution changes, withdrawals, reconciliations, and timely remittance to plan providers; support employee education on retirement savings programs
Human Resources Liaison & Continuous Improvement
Serve as the primary liaison between Payroll and HR to ensure accurate employee data and seamless processes across onboarding, offboarding, compensation changes, leaves of absence, and employment status updates
Develop and maintain payroll and benefits procedures; identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and employee experience through process enhancements and technology
Stay current with legislative changes affecting payroll, benefits, and employment practices
Requirements
Post secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
7 years of payroll experience, including supervisory responsibilities
PCP or PLP designation from the National Payroll Institute
Proven knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation
Experience administering group benefits and RRSP programs
Proficiency with payroll systems (Eclipse), field time entry, Microsoft Excel and SharePoint
Benefits
We offer a comprehensive and competitive total rewards package that includes a complete range of employee benefits, like a company matched RRSP program, to ensure you have the tools necessary to manage, maintain, and improve your health and wellbeing.
