About the Role As a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) in CODA’s Withdrawal Management program, you will work under the direction of an on-site Registered Nurse (RN) and licensed medical professionals (LMPs) to provide compassionate and competent patient care during detoxification. You’ll perform clinical tasks including vital signs, medication administration, and patient support, ensuring a clean and safe environment while working closely with interdisciplinary teams. You’ll play an essential role in maintaining patient dignity and continuity of care during a critical moment in recovery. What You Will Bring Clinical Competence : Experience with vital signs, ECGs, medication administration, and infection control in a fast-paced care setting. Teamwork : Ability to collaborate with nurses, physicians, counselors, and support staff to deliver coordinated care. Compassionate Care : A patient-centered approach that supports people in early recovery with empathy and respect. Communication & Documentation : Accurate and professional communication, both written and verbal, and strong documentation in the electronic health record (EHR). Adaptability : Ability to manage varied clinical and administrative duties, from patient monitoring to front office support. Key Responsibilities Take and document vital signs, ECGs, injections, and fingerstick blood tests as ordered. Monitor patients and report changes to RN; provide support with activities of daily living. Assist with patient admissions, discharges, and transitions of care. Administer scheduled medications under RN and LMP supervision, following safety protocols. Maintain a safe, clean environment; perform safety checks and assist with laundry and room turnovers. Document all clinical activities in the EHR system. Respond to medical and behavioral emergencies, activate emergency protocols, and administer basic life support if needed. Collaborate with all facility staff to ensure high-quality, continuous care. Perform administrative support tasks including inventory, phone answering, and patient reception. Certified Medical Assistant Qualifications Required Education and Experience High school diploma or GED (preferred) Minimum two years of experience in ambulatory care, outpatient, primary care, or urgent care environment Required Certifications and Licenses Current Certified Medical Assistant credential from an accredited CMA program Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to acquire within 30 days of hire Crisis prevention training (must be completed within 90 days of hire) May require a valid Oregon or Washington driver’s license depending on job duties Required Skills and Competencies Strong patient care and interpersonal skills Understanding of the “6 Rights” of medication administration Familiarity with SUD withdrawal symptoms and treatment (or ability to gain within 6 months) Ability to work respectfully with individuals with substance use or co-occurring conditions Competence in using Microsoft Office and electronic medical record systems Ready to Make a Difference?
