Description
Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. We are actively looking for a Software Developer – Junior Level to join our Costa Mesa office
As part of the FlexTerm Group , the Software Developer will contribute to the development of simulation models and software tools that analyze processes and layouts within container terminals and other port facilities, working under general supervision with growing independence.

Duties and responsibilities:

Develop and enhance simulation models for analyzing processes and layouts within container terminals and port facilities using discrete event simulation software and programming Perform software and model development using programming languages such as C, C++, Java, or C#, working on less routine tasks with growing ownership of assigned components Conduct debugging, validation, verification, and output analysis of simulation models, handling moderately complex problems with guidance from senior staff Document modeling assumptions, process flows, results, and issue technical reports; adapt communication style to team needs Develop emulation models connecting to real-world control systems such as Terminal Operating Systems (TOS) used in marine terminal environments Support data collection and analysis activities to inform model inputs Perform numerical and statistical analysis of various operational processes Interface with technicians, engineers, and project managers during data gathering, model development, analysis, reporting, and presentations Work independently on well-defined tasks, receiving detailed direction on outcomes while exercising some discretion to vary from established procedures Other duties:

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field; 2-4 years of software development experience Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, C#, Java, or similar) Experience with web frameworks, APIs, and/or enterprise application development Familiarity with databases (SQL or NoSQL) and data integration concepts Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation) All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171 Moffatt & Nichol uses E-Verify and employment is contingent upon the legal ability to obtain employment in the U.S. and to present the required documentation at hire Physical requirements:
Sedentary for prolonged period of time, interact with clients, and travel occasionally.
Base salary range:
$40 to $45 per hour based on years of experience, level of education obtained, professional registration, and meeting the required qualifications in the job description.
Base salary range only applicable for candidates who will be hired and working in the California markets.
