Description The Impact You Can Make Team Impact The Lead Clinical Nurse, in collaboration with the Assistant Director, Patient Services (GFMG) actively participates in the nursing care of patients, works with the multi-disciplinary team to assist in the day-to-day clinical operations of the office. This includes problem solving, coordination of assignments and schedules, validation of clinical staff competency and monitoring of clinical staff performance. The Lead Clinical Nurse serves as the primary resource for the nursing team in the absence of Assistant Director, Patient Services (GFMG). How You Will Fulfill Your Potential Responsibilities Clinical Practice Provides direct care to patients, fulfilling all duties and responsibilities of the Registered Nurse job description Supports the office clinical staff in coordination of the interdisciplinary team and patient education Maintains high visibility to patients, families and staff in the clinical area Maintains current knowledge of all policies and procedures related to nursing care Triages and prioritizes patient care in accordance with current policies and standards Utilizes computer system according to established standards Evaluates individual patient outcomes and initiates measures to support patient progress towards goals Management, Leadership and Staff Development Oversees the daily clinical operations of the office Serves as the initial contact for clinical decisions regarding staffing, patient concerns and overall clinical workflows Acts as a liaison between the Nurse Manager, Office Manager and office staff Provides clinical supervision to staff and identifies performance issues to the Nurse Manager Delegates assignments and tasks to nursing personnel according to each staff member’s education and training, and within the scope of practice defined by the state licensing board Communicates pertinent information to clinical office staff Demonstrates principals of Evidence Based Leadership Serves as a role model to staff and collaborates with leadership to improve the quality of patient care Completes and conducts selected clinical peer-to-peer evaluations Facilitates clinical staff meetings in office Provides input into office staff meeting and unit based council agendas Participates in follow up and provides data to the Nurse Manager and Office Manager on patient/family complaints and occurrence reports Participates in hiring/interviews with Nurse Manager and Office Manager Serves as a mentor for staff and monitors staff competency Provides clinical support and participates as needed in staff education Collaborates with Nurse Manager to coordinate orientation of new clinical employees Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, assists in the development and implementation of systems to support quality and safe patient care Develops and monitors the clinical staff schedule and anticipates imminent staffing needs Initiates staffing adjustments on a shift-by-shift basis Provides conflict resolution regarding scheduling Resolves interpersonal conflict using appropriate methods and organizational resources Ensures the accuracy of medication inventory and seeks resolution of discrepancies Program Management Support Collaborates in staff scheduling providing input into requests for variation Participates in Physician Practice Unit Based Council Assists and provides input into current policies and procedures Provides clinical input for budget preparation Monitors utilization of supplies and staff on a day-to-day basis Assists in planning, implementation and evaluation of programs Personal and Professional Growth Projects a positive, professional demeanor through verbal and non-verbal communications Meets change with positive, supportive behavior Acknowledges diverse perspectives; language and behavior; fosters inclusiveness in the work environment Maintains professional working relationships with peers, management, and customers at all times Incorporates organizational mission, vision, and values as well as the Code of Conduct in all actions and behaviors Assumes responsibility for one’s own professional development Uses self-appraisal with manager input and peer review to assist in professional growth Participates in professional organizations, seeking role-specific certification as appropriate Commits to personal development in order to adapt effectively to ongoing change within their professional role Education/Accredited Programs Graduation from a Registered Professional Nursing program Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred 3 years of clinical experience required, preferably in a physician practice setting Completion of Charge Nurse course preferred Licenses/Certifications/Registrations Licensed Registered Professional Nurse in New York BLS Certification for all practices ALCS and PALS required for Urgent Care Skills/Abilities Expert clinician in area assigned Demonstrated ability to assume a leadership role in nursing practice Computer literate Knowledge of adult learning principles Demonstrated ability to teach individuals and groups of patients/families and staff Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing Ability to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with patients and professionals of all disciplines Ability to develop broad concepts into practical applications Salary Range The expected base rate for this Glens Falls, New York, United States-based position is $36.80 to $54.45 per hour. Exact rate is determined on a case-by-case basis commensurate with experience level, as well as education and certifications pertaining to each position which may be above the listed job requirements.
