The charity was formed to consolidate a number of ministries that developed from within the All Souls Clubhouse and All Souls Church, a diverse, mutli-generational, vibrant congregation in central London with a heart to reach the city and the nations for Jesus. ASSTC works across four ministry areas: those affected by homelessness (ASLAN), children at the All Souls Church of England school (Children and Families), senior members of our community (Senior Care), and those in the sex industry -including those who may have been trafficked (Tamar). ASLAN Our aim in ASLAN, the A ll S ouls L ocal A ction N etwork, is to engage with people affected by homelessness by offering them individualised care, support and befriending. ASLAN Faith and Volunteer Network (FVN) Night Shelter : ASLAN Faith and Volunteer Network (FVN) Night Shelter 26/27 is an innovative project for individuals rough sleeping in Westminster, offering communal setting emergency accommodation. The shelter will run for a minimum of 6 months, from the beginning of October to the end of March, with a possible extension to the end of June. Various churches contribute in different ways. Each venue will offer individualised companionship and support whilst the guests (re)engage with St Mungos and  Westminster Council, pursue Council-directed solutions for the short term, and explore long term housing  solutions. Guests will initially be assessed by St Mungo’s as low risk (without mental health or addiction issues), but may be “high need” and will then be referred to the Communal Setting. For example, they may have a complex immigration status, be waiting for the outcome of an asylum appeal or they may have been offered government support elsewhere in the UK or at another time, but failed to engage with it due to language, cultural or community barriers. The Shelter Manager will lead and oversee all aspects of the project. The role will be supported by 4 Relief Coordinators in order to cover all morning and night shifts, seven days/ week for the duration of the Shelter run. The Shelter manager will be employed by All Souls Serve the City, the coordinating venue. Key Role Responsibilities: Assist the Shelter manager to organise and coordinate the operational delivery of the FVN shelter. Be present and visible at all venues for daily shifts with the shelter manager and other Relief Coordinator(s). Ensure the shelter is run effectively at all times and that any issues or problems are dealt with effectively and calmly in a peaceful and conflict-free environment. Manage each shift's team of volunteers, ensuring safety of guests and volunteers at all times. Induct new volunteers and guests into the shelter setting. Work with referring agencies, shelter teams and guests to ensure that the shelter meets the needs of its guests and treats guests and volunteers fairly and consistently. Collect relevant data and manage safeguarding concerns. Work collaboratively and cooperatively with venue volunteer coordinators. Relate to shelter guests with the utmost respect and tolerance, seeking to build their self-confidence and self-worth and improve their quality of life.
