    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p>FDB is seeking an <strong>AI Product Architect Director&nbsp;</strong>— a senior individual contributor who blends deep technical architecture expertise with strategic product insight. In this role, you will design and guide the next generation of AI-enabled systems, using agentic workflows, LLM-powered capabilities, and responsible AI practices to transform healthcare data experiences.</p><p>This position is ideal for an entrepreneurial technical leader who loves building, prototyping, exploring new generative AI capabilities, and translating them into real customer and business value. You will partner closely with Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders to shape priorities, validate opportunities, and deliver scalable, reliable, and safe AI systems.</p><p>This is <strong>a non-people-management Director role</strong>, focused on technical impact, architecture leadership, and product innovation.</p><p><strong>What You’ll Do</strong></p><p><strong>Technical Architecture Leadership (60%)</strong></p><ul style=\"list-style-type:disc;\"><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">Own the end-to-end architecture for generative AI and agent-based systems, including orchestration, retrieval architectures, vector storage, context strategies, and evaluation frameworks.</li><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">Prototype and iterate quickly using modern AI tools (e.g., LangChain/LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI, Azure OpenAI, Claude).</li><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">Define and maintain reference architectures, reusable components, and best practices for AI system reliability, observability, safety, and compliance.</li><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">Translate business and product requirements into scalable technical architectures, including APIs, integration patterns, and data workflows.</li><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">Partner with engineering teams to transition prototypes into production-grade systems.</li><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">Lead or contribute to architectural reviews, modeling, risk assessments, and design governance for AI initiatives.</li><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">Ensure all AI solutions meet standards for security, ethics, explainability, and responsible use.</li></ul><p><strong>Product Strategy &amp; Innovation (40%)</strong></p><ul style=\"list-style-type:disc;\"><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">Identify high-value opportunities for generative and agentic AI across FDB’s products, workflows, and customer experiences.</li><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">Partner with Product Management to shape the AI roadmap, define value hypotheses, and validate use cases through experimentation and user research.</li><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">Drive rapid prototyping, concept testing, and MVP definition to evaluate feasibility, desirability, and commercial impact.</li><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">Establish technical success metrics for AI systems, including performance, safety, ROI, and adoption signals.</li><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">Communicate trade-offs and architectural considerations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.</li><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">Serve as a thought partner to business and product leaders, helping FDB build differentiated, AI-powered capabilities.</li></ul><p><strong>You’ll Excel In This Role If You</strong></p><ul style=\"list-style-type:disc;\"><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">Bring a strong technical foundation in ML/AI systems, including LLMs, embeddings, RAG, and agentic patterns.</li><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">Have operated as a hands-on architect, staff/principal engineer, or AI systems designer.</li><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">Are comfortable exploring, experimenting, and moving quickly from idea → prototype → architecture.</li><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">Understand how to connect business outcomes to technical design decisions.</li><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">Can communicate complexity simply and influence cross-functional teams without authority.</li><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">Thrive in high-ambiguity environments and enjoy shaping greenfield AI initiatives.</li></ul><p><strong>Minimum Qualifications</strong></p><ul style=\"list-style-type:disc;\"><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">10+ years in engineering, technical architecture, AI/ML systems, or related fields.</li><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">3+ years hands-on experience building or deploying GenAI, LLM, RAG, or agent-based systems.</li><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">Demonstrated experience in architecting complex distributed systems.</li><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">Experience partnering closely with Product on strategy, discovery, and prioritization.</li><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">Expertise in prompt engineering, model evaluation, and rapid AI prototyping.</li><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">Familiarity with Azure ecosystem, vector databases, orchestration frameworks, and modern AI tooling.</li><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to executives, customers, and cross-functional teams.</li></ul><p><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></p><ul style=\"list-style-type:disc;\"><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">Experience in healthcare data, clinical solutions, or highly regulated environments.</li><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">Certifications in product strategy, Agile, or AI/ML (PMC, CSPO, PSPO, AZ-305, etc.).</li><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">Experience with responsible AI frameworks, safety engineering, and governance models.</li><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">Hands-on experience with AI-accelerated development tools (Cursor, Cline, Claude Code, etc.).</li></ul><p><strong>What Success Looks Like&nbsp;</strong></p><p><strong>Within 90 days:</strong></p><ul style=\"list-style-type:disc;\"><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">Establish core GenAI architectural principles and evaluation frameworks.</li><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">Deliver 1–2 functional prototypes validating new AI-enabled workflows.</li><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">Align with Product on prioritized AI opportunity areas.</li></ul><p><strong>Within 6 months:</strong></p><ul style=\"list-style-type:disc;\"><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">Deliver architecture for at least one AI-enabled product or major workflow enhancement.</li><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">Stand up reusable AI capabilities and patterns that increase engineering velocity.</li><li style=\"tab-stops:list .5in;\">Demonstrate measurable customer or internal value from AI-driven improvements.</li></ul><hr><p><strong>About FDB:&nbsp;</strong>FDB is the leading provider of drug and medical device knowledge that helps healthcare professionals make precise decisions.
