    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Title</span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">: SOAR Teacher and assistants as applicable</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">(Including Substitute Teacher)</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Teachers and assistants need to have a love for learning and a willingness to learn alongside their students. A teaching degree is not required but experience or interest with the class topic is desired! </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Overview:</span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"> The teacher shall be a born-again Christian who feels called by God to the teaching profession. Other qualifications may be added by the board as deemed appropriate. The classroom teacher will be expected to use effective teaching techniques to achieve curriculum goals and promote student learning, to integrate Biblical principles and a Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum, and to role model a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ. </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Reports to:</span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"> SOAR Director (day to day) and ultimately to the Head of School </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Evaluation: </span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Teacher performance will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">board’s policy on evaluation of professional personnel and this job description. Details are found in the Employee Handbook.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Teachers will be observed in the classes from time to time throughout the year in order to provide support, ideas, and collaboration. </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Status: </span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Part-Time/ Per-Class</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Schedule</span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">: Will depend on courses taught according to the schedule, but will include being reasonably available on non SOAR Days during the week for questions and support.  Your contract will also indicate SOAR training and professional development days in August. Attendance is also expected at the SOAR showcase (Thursday in May) and Independent project fair (Saturday in March/ Early Spring). </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Required personal qualities: </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">The teacher/assistant shall:</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">1) Have received Jesus Christ as his/her personal Savior.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">2) Believe that the Bible is God’s Word and standard for faith and daily living.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">3) Be in whole-hearted agreement with Covenant Christian Academy’s Statement of Faith</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">(Doctrinal Position).</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">4) Be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions toward others. (Luke 6:40) This</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">includes being committed to God’s biblical standards for sexual conduct.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">5) Be a Christian who is, and will remain during the period of employment, an active member</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">of a Christ-centered church, growing in his/her Christian relationship with God, and actively</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">practicing and exhibiting Christian principles of the Christian faith; seek to role-model in</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">speech, actions, and attitude a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ; set an example of the</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">importance of spiritual discipline; and encourage students in the importance of a personal</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">relationship with Jesus Christ and growing in their faith.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Additional personal qualities:</span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">The teacher/assistant shall:</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">1. Maintain a personal appearance that is a Christian role model of cleanliness, modesty,</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">good taste, and agreement with school policy.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">5. Use acceptable English in written and oral communication. Speak with clear articulation.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">6. Respectfully submit and be loyal to constituted authority.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">7. Notify the administration of any policy he/she is unable to support.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">8. Refuse to use or circulate confidential information inappropriately.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">JOB DESCRIPTION – Essential Functions: </span></p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Teach classes at regularly scheduled times.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Read weekly staff notes and ask questions about things you do not understand via email prior to SOAR days</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Attend teacher meetings as scheduled (August and January)</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Demonstrate proficiency or willingness to learn necessary technologies (promethean board, FACTS, carline system, google suite, email)</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Communicate class information routinely with students’ families via SOAR notes. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Respond to families’ communications the same day when possible, and no later than two business days.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Communicate with students/ parents as needed outside of scheduled class hours to support and answer questions.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Upon being hired, set up a covenant email/ respond to email before link times out (2-3 days). </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Set up papercut printing when the link is set within 1-2 days. Reach out if there is difficulty immediately. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"> Reflect the purpose of the SOAR program, which is to honor Christ in every class and in every activity.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"> Cooperate with the board and administration in implementing all policies, procedures,</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">and directives governing the operation of the school.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Demonstrate understanding of the class material to be taught for each SOAR elective/ enrichment class. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Demonstrate a mastery of the subject material assigned. Knowledge may be acquired through experience, education, or personal study. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Teach classes as assigned following the prescribed scope and sequence as scheduled or approved by the SOAR Director</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Integrate biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum and activities.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"> Keep proper discipline and classroom management in the classroom and on the school premises for a good teaching environment.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Maintain a clean, attractive, well-ordered classroom, and complete the entire classroom clean up list at the end of their teaching day</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Plan broadly through the use of semester, quarterly and weekly plans and objectives; prepare and submit lesson plans as required. This includes a year-long curriculum map due at the beginning of the school year. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Use valid teaching techniques to achieve curriculum goals and affect student learning.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Employ a variety of instructional aids, methods, and materials that will provide multi-model, creative teaching to meet the whole child’s needs – spiritual, mental, physical, social, and emotional.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Follow established guidelines for dealing with students, parents, administration, and staff.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Recognize the need for good public relations. Represent SOAR and Covenant Christian Academy in a favorable and professional manner to Covenant Christian Academy’s constituency and the general public. This includes appropriate behavior on social media (following CCA’s social media policy). </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Develop and maintain rapport with students, parents, and staff by treating others with friendliness, dignity, and consideration.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Follow the principles of Matthew 18 in dealing with conflict with students, parents, staff and administration.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Seek the counsel of the Administrator, faculty, staff, and parents while maintaining a teachable attitude.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Comply with all Covenant Christian Academy policies and procedures </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Know the procedures for dealing with emergency situations.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"> Inform the administration in a timely manner if unable to fulfill any duty assigned.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Prepare adequate information and materials for a substitute teacher.</span></li>\n</ol>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">For HS and MS level classes or classes with required work:</span></p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Communicate with students a minimum of one week before classes begin to ensure course expectations are clearly conveyed, especially for classes that have work to do on the 1st day of class. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Complete semester comments and grades when applicable </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Check in with families as necessary to keep students and families well informed of students’ progress.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Ensure final grades are assigned and available for viewing by designated date</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Maintain close contact with parents when students show signs of struggling in a course. Be prepared to offer well-considered, insightful solutions or ideas for struggling learners. You may work with the SOAR director to prepare ideas. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Grade and return all assignments within 1 week. Exception: Papers greater than two pages are to be returned no later than 10 days past the submission due date.</span></li>\n</ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">JOB DESCRIPTION – Supplemental Functions: </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">The teacher/assistant shall:</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">1. Utilize educational opportunities and evaluation processes for professional growth.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">2. Provide input and constructive recommendations for administrative and managerial</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">functions at SOAR. </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">3. Support the broader program of SOAR by attending extracurricular activities/ events when possible.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">5. Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the administration during SOAR hours</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">JOB DESCRIPTION – Physical Requirements:</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">The teacher/assistant shall:</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">1. Handle work which deals mostly with people, objects, equipment in a general setting;</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">depth perception and field of vision are important.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">2. Bend, stoop, twist, turn, reach, lift (up to 50 pounds), carry, pull, push, climb, and kneel;</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">walking and standing approximately 50-75% of each shift.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">3.
