Scope of Job : The OCC Supervisor provides real-time leadership and operational oversight for the Operations Control Center team and facility. Managing the designated shift, this role directs workflow, supports a team of Control Center Operators, and takes full accountability for shift operations. The Supervisor ensures the safe, accurate monitoring and control of renewable energy assets to maximize generation and efficiency, while strictly adhering to contractual obligations and all applicable NERC standards and practices. Work Location: Bloomington, MN Work Mode: 100% on-site Responsibilities Team Leadership & Shift Management Supervise & Schedule: Oversee OCC Operators during your shift, manage the 24/7 multi-person crew schedule, and step in as the active supervisor or Level II Operator when needed. Train & Support: Mentor staff on operational guidelines, processes, and safety procedures, providing technical guidance to resolve system performance issues. Performance Management: Maintain a collaborative team environment and partner with the OCC Manager/Director on personnel updates, documentation, or necessary disciplinary actions. Emergency & Shift Flexibility: Remain available on-call for emergency situations and maintain flexibility to cover alternate shifts as operational needs change. Real-Time Plant Control & Asset Optimization SCADA Operations: Monitor and control plant setpoints (like active and reactive power) using OEM or Enterprise SCADA systems to maximize asset value and efficiency. Grid Coordination: Direct electrical substation switching based on standard practices, and adjust controls to meet utility, ISO, and customer requirements. Data Integrity & Logging: Monitor weather data, equipment temperatures, and voltage outputs. Keep accurate, real-time operator logs and ensure data sent to RTO/ISO grids is correct. Compliance & Safety: Ensure all operations strictly follow regulatory requirements, contractual obligations, and annual safety program training. Troubleshooting & Event Coordination Triage Management: Help lead the team through simultaneous plant events, prioritizing safety and quick resolution. Collaborative Technical Support: Analyze operating data to spot performance trends, and partner with maintenance teams to troubleshoot plant control or telemetry issues. Project Onboarding: Assist with functional testing and data verification during the commissioning and onboarding of new generation projects. Working Conditions Environment: Primarily a standard office/control room setting (approximately 90% desk/workstation operations). Travel: Up to 10% travel for offsite meetings or site visits as required. Qualifications Education & Experience Experience: 5+ years of supervisory experience preferred, ideally in a 24/7 operational shift environment (such as a power plant). Education: Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred; equivalent business or military leadership experience is highly valued. Technical & Compliance Skills Certifications: Current NERC Balancing and Interchange certification, or the ability to obtain it within 12 months of hire. Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with NERC, FERC, and regional system operator requirements. Systems & Equipment: Strong working knowledge of SCADA equipment and industrial communication systems.
